AA, US Airways merger could lead to Tulsa expansion

Expand with which lines in 2 to 3 years?

MD-80  GONE.
757 GONE.
767-200 GONE.
767-300 OUT SOURCED.
777/200/300 OUTSOURCED
737 Next Gen OUTSOURCED.
Airbus A319/321 OUTSOURCED.
What will be left in a couple of years with the current headcount in Tulsa?
Maybe Parker wants to turn Tulsa into a MRO.

SCS won't happen for at least 2 years and USAir guys have no CBA.
Then we need a JCBA after that. Unless the rules change we will be separate operators for at least 2 to 3 years if the IAM continues to drag on. TWU did no better for us. That is from established practices, then comes the BETA Association that was concocted by the two unions. Grab the popcorn gentlemen.

What's the hurry?
What do we have left on our contract? 5 years?
Why would ANY airline be in a hurry to negotiate a new deal when they have the best possible one in place?
What has it been for UA/CO with same union?  Five years......?

The only way I see more work going to Tulsa is by moving work from major hubs to Tulsa.
We now have 6 major hubs with maintenance. 6 hubs is a but much so I can see in the next 2 years or so work being shifted to Tulsa as the MD80,757 and 767-200 leave the inventory. Turning Tulsa into a MRO would be another option but that opens the door for more low paid workers. Right up Parkers alley.

In the video he says "we won't increase fares. We may lower them".

Today they raised fares. Go figure. It took a whole two days to break that lie.

http://mobile.businessweek.com/articles/2013-12-11/delta-american-and-united-just-raised-prices-dot-what-will-southwest-do?campaign_id=yhoo

And the first article is a Tulsa piece, relying on what a local politician thinks.

I'm not buying it either.

Well Parker has to pay for all those "lollipops" he's promised the unions. They have to come from somewhere.. <_<

As I've incessnatly stated, thanks to the DOJ, this merger was going to suck for the public...and it will eventually suck for the unions as well. At least they will get what they deserve (LOL). :D

Apropos, I let the DOJ know what I thought about this.

Back to the title of this Post, I saw a job in the Internal careers the other day for a Plant Maint. Mechanic Carpenter in Tule. And a PMM Plumber on the External careers!

Maybe they need more shipping crates for Tulsa tooling going elsewhere!?!?
