CHICAGO, May 7 (Reuters) - AMR Corp. (AMR), parent of American Airlines, on Monday said it is sending recall notices to 200 flight attendants to address projected attrition through the end of 2007.

American Airlines is the world's largest airline.

How can this be? I thought that AA was involved in a massive conspiracy to get rid of the TWA flight attendants.

How many of the 200 are likely to return? Half?

Half is probably close to what they expect. I guess it all depends on how many they know work at Eagle. If there are a large portion of them there, then they might expect more. I wouldn't expect too many of the former TWA F/A's to return. They probably don't want the hassel. I imagine, that the top 100 former TW are in their mid 60's. Anyone know for sure?

This recall will include a small number of former TWA FAs who were never trained to on AA aircraft under the AA operating authority. Has anyone heard what type of qualification training they will have to go through. Is it possible that the FAA is going to require the full new-hire course since they haven't flown in almost 5 years?

The youngest of the top 103 TWA is 59; the oldest 73. I can't see more than 75 of the 200 actually returning. Even of the top 97 AA, they are junior and those who have gone to other carriers might be reluctant to return to near the bottom of the pay scale.

I might add that as of 1330 EDT not a word is yet on the APFA website, and I couldn't get a single human being to speak to there, except a secretary who didn't know anything.

Openings will be at LGA, DCA and BOS.

Flight Service said recall date is July 24th. Mark was right about the bases.

It will be interesting to see how far down the list they have to go to get all 200.
