AA and US merger?

No matter what, US can't hurt Delta and I don't think Delta is running scared

You will still be weak in international routes compared to most airlines. Give it a few years and WN will be ahead of U :p

I find it laughable how LUSers continue to speculate merger at any chance, only to be disappointed yet again. It hasn't even gotten to the court and the merger king cries merger wolf yet again.

I think analyst always predict the White Flags in a merger just to get their hopes up. We all know how successful the last merger went...no, I don't see a raging bull in the china shop

On the good side AA will fit right into Parker's dysfunctional circus because TWA's bitterness is starting to come out :p

AA has repeatedly stated their focus is on JFK, MIA, LAX, DFW and ORD. The five cornerstone strategy. So who fits better, JB or U?
US...refer back to my post #177 for an explanation. Oh yeah, I am using conventional wisdom, but I guess we'll have to wait and see if my thoughts are only one sided and based on a certain occurance during REM sleep as many in the AA fan club suggest.

The AA fan club (AKA anyone who doesnt subscribe to the usairways takeover fantasy) has listened to,agreed and disagreed, and thrown a few ideas of there own out there. The difference between you "U" guys and the AA fan club as you call it, is that we are not a one trick pony with as many dreams and threads of potential, all but certain and even the UCT's. pinning everything on a merger.

AAer's are more than content on being themselves. They are content on doing it alone. Like it or not this management has set up a growth plan that will accomplish much of that. A new fleet arriving, the continued 5 corner strategy, there tie ups with other one world carriers and now a hard BK case to work through.

They squeezed Braniff and Delta out of DFW, they muscled in to ORD right under United. They purchased international rights, from other carriers and maximized them to the greatest potential. I have now doubt AA will continue doing what it does best.

The only way AA will make it on there own is on the backs and blood of it's employees. AA employees haven't gotten a raise in over 10 years. Now they r looking at a pay cut. I can't even imagine what the employee morale will b after the pay cuts the pension losses and the layoffs. I'm sure many employees will b quitting. McDonalds has better pay and benefits and never layoff. What is the incentive of working for AA? I think a merger with US will benefit the employees.

<_< ------ Frankly, I feel all this talk is mostly wishful thinking on USair's part! I feel, if there is going to be any type of merger/buyout, there's a better chance of it being with Jet Blue.------- Just one man's opinion!

Actually AA employees have gotten raises. Actually they make a far better living than "U". I guess that kind of explains your merger fantasy's. Kind of hard to explain the low turn down rate for recalls.

The only benefit would be to the US people and only for a short time.

Why don't you go and get a job. @ McDonalds?

Will somebody please wake this child up and tell him that this is now 2011, and that he is now living in a post-AA Chapter 11 world. AA did some things right back in the 80s and 90s. No doubt about it. That was a long time ago and every remaining legacy carrier has failed. Including AA. Whatever it is you say that they will continue doing best, for the time being they'll have to do it under court supervised bankruptcy proceedings. This is your new reality. Braniff, Delta, ORD. Really? Fast forward to 2011-12. And have some vanilla ice cream with your slice of humble pie.

Humble pie? I am not on the usairways board pining away for a merger with U. You are over here fantasizing about AA. I would guess to do that you have has more than your share of pie.

You will not find one sentence that I've written anywhere here that will back up your assertion that I am "pining" for a merger or "fantasizing" about AA. I have steadfastly maintained that nobody knows what's going to happen at this stage of your filing. Not even you. It is what it is. Anyway, enjoy your dessert.

Are you kidding me? Why were the employees asking for a raise days before the bk filing. Are u telling me the AA unions bankrupt AA. If they were getting raises why were the employees asking for raises?

And by the way I'm an AMT for US Airways and we make more than the mechanics at AA so get off your high horse already and face reality that theres a possibility AA gets chopped up an US will b standing by with 2 billion dollars in cash on hand to pick up the pieces. That's my fantasy. I did not want to go there but u forced me too.

Thats why you are all over here with your big dreams of working for AA. You dont have to say it out right, your constant posts to the matter speak volumes.
