2015 Fleet Service Discussion

Moar preparations? The fark were they doing for nine months whilst awaiting the NMB  handjob?

We'll be lucky to get a nickle with the Keystone Kops  at the table.

TWU-IAM Association Gears Up For Joint Contract Talks
On the heels of the National Mediation Board’s (NMB) certification of the TWU-IAM Association at American Airlines, the Fleet Service and Mechanic and Related negotiations committees have scheduled bargaining preparations at the Machinists Union’s William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Complex in Hollywood, Maryland the week of July 6, 2015.
“Combining the labor agreements from two different airlines is a complex process, but this reconciliation will be the foundation on which new agreements will be forged,” said TWU International President Harry Lombardo and IAM General Vice President Sito Pantoja in a joint statement. “The Association is eager to complete our preparations so we can get to the table and bargain the contracts our members deserve.”

“It’s largely due to the hard work and past sacrifices of members represented by the Association that American Airlines is now among the most profitable carriers in the world,” continued Pantoja and Lombardo. “It’s time that these dedicated employees share fully in the success they’ve been so instrumental in creating. That simply means the industry’s best labor agreement."
The TWU-IAM Association represents more than 30,000 ground workers at American Airlines and is the largest union at the carrier. The Association’s leadership and membership is anxious to begin joint contract talks so their compensation is directly reflective of the airline’s success.

Their word is completely worthless. The "Association" is starting out with "no credibility" and it will only continue to spiral downward. A squabble to start, a promise to vote, watch all enjoy 4% while the members are in the dark, a MOU that clearly states ""But in no event later than 30 days after certification". If it wasn't so pathetic, I would laugh...Instead, I have a feeling it's going to be extremely ugly.

No it won't.

Sisters and Brothers— I would like for everyone in this forum to take the time to recognize that Tim Nelson was successful in getting the IAM 141 District Officer Election results overturned. They will now be re-decided on the 25th of this month. I just received my absentee ballot yesterday from the 141, which I completed, and returned within the same day!

Let’s hear a big round of applause for Tim for this futile effort... which by the way... ultimately saps energy away from your JCBA negotiations, as well as consuming your union's financial resources (dues)...

MAKE SURE YOU VOTE ON THE 25TH!!

The re run election has been conducted. It appears the same outcome, from the original election, has been delivered by the membership. The membership has decided on who their elected leadership will be going forward. It's time to unite for the betterment of the membership. There are JCBA negotiations just around the corner. The company will again test the limits of our solidarity. It's time to unify. It's time to Lock and Load! There are many improvements that need to be gained.

anyone notice he has not appeared on here since or before the elections     guess it was a huge slap in his face considering he felt strongly against the members who yet got re elected again and again

a huge congrats to the front runners who yet won again thanks to the membership votes

I figured the results would be "status quo" to say the least.
Turnout was light in places, but you have to figure that with contract negotiations upcoming, no one would rock the boat so to speak.
From my perspective, there wasn't any campaigning, and a lot of people didn't care on who would represent going forward.
I've only one vote, and exercised my franchise. But a lot of my brethren didn't, yet ***** and moan about all of the screwed up decisions that come down the pike.
All I can do is inform others about the choices and let them decide.

However, what I heard is most mechanics in TULE were very disinterested in AMFA and very little effort was made to campaign for them.

T5 is talking about the District 141 of the IAM which is fleet at UA and U.S., nothing to do with mechanics at AA.

It really does not matter who he was talking about. My point is the reason these memberships (of whatever UNION) keep getting taken to the cleaners is because they have become passive.

The core problem remains the same.

Replacing the TWU (or whoever) with AMFA is not going to fix that problem.

Can we agree on that?

Fair play to him, he has been very active on Facebook.

Yea he is on FaceBook blaming the DOL... and the membership for not wanting change...

i think the membership wants change, but not HIS brand of it, being the fact that we have been burned before by candidates claiming change and not delivering it Im not surprised, but then again its timmy and hes going to play it up, even saying AGAIN that hes not running an opposition ticket but we know he will be right back like a rash that wont go away next year...
