Whoever gave the -1 check to my post, do you know where this quote came from?

David Seymour and Bill Cade were in Tulsa on Friday and they didn't make it to my shop until after I went home. Just wondering if anyone was able to speak with them or know the reason for the visit and which shops they toured..
Personally I would have liked to ask why so much money is being spent in Tulsa to IMO make us less efficient..

I talked to some guys in the CFM shop today and they said he was there and gave the same vague answers to any questions that were asked.  No real information or any commitment.  They said Cade didn't say a single word.

Vent time: I am not sure what happens on the Line in their various enviroments, but it just burns my A__ when the company hires a mechanic to be a mechanic and that mechanic finds a little job outside of his scope to secure a premium shift or schedule.

At Tulsa, we have A&P Mechanics performing company clerk positions to work warranty, training and other non aircraft/engine jobs that lock down the premium shifts. The same goes for many of the Union positions. These people are hired to perform maintenance, yet they take these positions in the Locals and in some cases the Internationals. In many cases these people are carried on dock rosters and take up slots for Vacation and CS and still are compensated for their A&P Tickets. If you wanted to be a clerk take the job and let some mechanics that work on the Aircraft/Engines, have your vacation/CS slot.

I don't disagree, but for those of us looking in, what exactly does the job of a clerk doing warranty work entail?
Accepting a part  ( and so you do understand, the stock clerk is not involved ) then processing by Manufacturer Part Number, Serial Number and at some occasions Identifying the part.

Also to clear up my potential error, I said a Company Clerk, not a Union member Stock Clerk. or Material Logistic Specialist.

Then once the Identification is made processing these parts back through say Boeing to claim the conditions of the warranty.

and to further, this rant, a Union Mechanic working in the training department. But there are basically two types, those who are just mechanics and Tech Crew Chiefs, including those who function within the DWMS window or the Maintenance online software i.e Work Cards and Non Routine Work Cards.

Then I am including to some extent lifetime E-Board or Officers. While these could be removed, but that is not the point.

In the direct case of the warranty department one would think that the TWU at least would want that to be in the Stores Title group.

About 5 years ago Stores won a grievance over mechanics handling parts within the same shop on some Inflight Entertainment Mods.

I know what you're talking about Buck.  A lot of these are people who would love management jobs (And act like management) but want to keep union protection.
