I was able to qualify and afford a Mortgage back in 99 when I was making only $14.00 per hour. The house I bought was only 15 years old and was 1500 SF for $80,000.

Absolutely aren't going to find something like that in any of those areas you spoke of.
It was eliminated. All they had to do was include ORD. But Delaney and co. gave it up.
They went for the more front end money to pay for retro.

You would have to remember that those cities also must be currently staffed by IAM if they are not staffed by us. I doubt it would affect a number as high as 6 to 700 but who knows?

On how long that might take I'm sure that there will be negotiations on timelines. First the vendors would have to be notified that their services would no longer be required and possibly AA would have to pay penalties for breaking any agreements. Then the logistics would have to be figured out? If there is an agreement for those positions to be offered to people still on the recall list, they would have to be notified and given time to accept or decline and time would need to be given to get their Airport badges as well.

Anyway you cut it I would have to guess that the process would still take a few months to play out?
Just learned that the TWU has signed a agreement with the IAM covering various issue's up to and including getting guys back home. I have no idea what the specifics are and how they will play out, but they are suppose to meet next week and talk it all out. Maybe somebody here has more detailed info about?

Good point. But don't forget AE proper is also TWU represented. The company is actually in the process of downsizing AE proper and have a unit called "Eagle Ground Handling" which is not represented and the company has said is doing very well? (They say)

Good possibility that they will try to utilize that service but the issue is as the economy get's better people are less and less willing to work for minimal wages. If they can qualify for an FBI background check airport ID they can also probably get a better paying job as well.

I remember back in the late 90's how the company had to offer a higher wage in many cities because they just weren't getting people to accept the job at the bottom of our contractual payscale.

In other words in the future the Ground Handling biz may not go over as well as the company would hope it would? Look at the current problems among regional pilots and how they're beginning to say F off to the offered wages.
The AE folks that took over most of the AA work after BK are non-union and are classified as station agents. The AE union guys are in the hubs and a few others like RDU and or CMH and maybe one or two more...I think they have 18 union stations staffed.

Was it Rich Delaney who gave it up or was it your NC? And ultimately if the members ratified it was them who gave it up actually. (COLA right?)

If it was exchanged for retro though I can understand that. As much as I might not like it retro will help pass the TA and it's given to all rather than a select few in high cost areas. But I have always been and always will be an advocate of COLA's and that was even when I was living in DFW. I'm a NYer by birth first and always.

Can't stand signing bonus's BTW. Sure we all want and need money but I can't stand the carrot on the stick that sways members for a few sheckles. It taints our TA and is dirty pool, IMO.

I'm sure that many people already know the details but maybe we should be a little fair and let our two respective Union's leaders put out the details officially before we begin the discussions?

The one thing I will say is that I believe the company still needs to sign off on the agreement which they are expected to do with no problems. Parker did make a mention of it in one of the town hall videos.

I think they ditched that idea. What was happening was you had people who worked for AE and were working flights for UA and weren't getting any flight benefits ....they were working under two different airlines and not getting to fly on any of them.  The Eagle ground handling division gets no benefits of any kind...none. Just $8 and top out at $10.

If you're right, get out of here, lol. You're telling me that they're already abandoning the ground handling idea? LMFAO. Jeez.

If you're AA do you remember many years ago back in DFW before 9/11 when they were hiring there was a group of new hires who were working with Syboli and they pulled the phone cord and locked him in a gatehouse by putting a veyor up against the door? He was stuck in there all night.

They all threw there badges down and quit on the spot that night.

I was there that day. I see Sar a bit, he is afternoon manning CC in the D bag room. He always takes care of me if I get OT there. He has calmed down quite a bit from the old days.

They tend to use more regular AE employees for the ground handling now, seems they do a better job if their getting benefits. Plus, AE took over ramp and counter/gate for UA and UA wanted the regular AE agents doing that work.

If there is one thing I miss about DFW it was messing with Sar. I took as assigned for a few bids and once in awhile they would send me to his gate. His crews hated him back in the day and were miserable. When I would walk in the door they would light up like Christmas trees cause they knew I was going to mess with him. I think they used to ask Joe Tolbert to have me work with them?

One time the company gave out a tub of popcorn and he wanted to take it home to his children. I told him no that I was going to take it home. He got so mad at me that he went to management. It was hilarious because I said I didn't want the popcorn because taking that home would technically be theft and I wasn't going to risk getting fired for popcorn. I told that CSM in front of Sar that I was just looking out for his job. I can still see the smoke coming out of his ears.

Another time he was showing some cute transfer girl around and walked into my gatehouse. He almost fell over another clerk trying to get out of there when he saw me, lol.

I liked Sar, he was just too easy for me though.

Duh huh. Who would have thunk it right.

Not too many people mess with him anymore, but some of the Nigerian guys get mad at him and they get to arguing and talking loud and you can't understand a word they are saying....funny as heck. Tolbert is retired now.

AF Readers/Posters/Brothers/Sisters my bet is the IAM/TWU will agree in a LOA that openings will be awarded  to LAA displaced by SCOPE and have recall. LUS/LCC by bid to avoid a major issue/fight as we move forward with the ASSOCIATION . Rates of pay ,bidding, ect. should be current Agents Classification Seniority regardless of Airline/Union until SCBA and SI. SCOPE was # 1 issue in US/LCC CBA and was accomplished. Now moving forward with the  ASSOCIATION  it's ALL ! about SENIORITY . The ? is the details of the LOA and AAL/DP position on restaffing  Stations with IAMTWU FS Agents/Clerks and the costs $$$ . Fish On !
Listen to the LAX town hall meeting....Parker himself said that the AA folks would be a little diappointed about recall and that DOH seniority would come later as the unions work with each other. Pay seniority will stand when they come back. He concluded it was a done deal already worked out with the unions.

I've seen that. You ain't kidding. Joe was always cool by me. Don't know if it was because he knew I was pro union or if it was the fact that I never complained no matter where he sent me. But he took good care of me most of the time. Hope he has a good retirement. Gus Bell was a guy I had ZERO use for.

You want to know someone who really surprised me? Graham Clarke. The guy had the absolute worst reputation on the ramp. Then I bid with him once because he took a gate I liked. I was geared up for the worst and the guy wound up being one of the best CC's I ever had. I even had to tell him after awhile that I had no clue why he had such a bad rep?????? To this day I'll never understand it? After that bid he had shifts I didn't really care for but I absolutely would have worked with him again. Really good guy IMO.
