But here's a gray area... let's say AA has an opening in a station in which US also has operations, should we first hire off the street or make that available to furloughed US agents?  Personally, I don't see much different if a station has just one represented group (US in PHX and AA in AUS) vs. both represented groups are in the same station (US and AA in DFW).  If a position is open, and plans are to hire off the street, then those positions should be available to either furloughed (or transfer) agents first from the other group, as it is just a matter of time before we are all one airline and work group.

I don't know the US East furlough situation very well, but I am sure there are some who would desire to transfer to JFK, SAT, AUS and SJU.  Just curious... does AA agents handle IAH, ELP, STL, DSM, BNA or OMA ramp?  Is there an available list of current stations being staffed by AA agents?
Jester,

AA has it's own agents in DFW, ORD, MIA, JFK/LGA, LAX, SFO, LAS, DCA, ATL, TPA, MCO, AUS, SJU, STL, STL, BOS

Ok, next item on the agenda...this US Agent thing is throwing me off. We at AA use Fleet Service Clerk (FSC).
So it's FCFS from DOH in the changeover, can we also get (FSC) from (FSA) as well. Or is that asking for a little too much...just kidding! :D

You listed STL twice and left out SAT/San Antonio.  At any rate, AA has mainline FSC in 17 stations

I want to be called a GSS "Ground Service Specialist". Hell everyone else gets to call themselves a specialist these days, why not us.

And guys really we do call ourselves "Clerks" on our side. Every time I hear "Agent" I think of someone who has to talk to passengers. Yuck.

I knew you couldn't stay away... at least not as a moniker!

You got that right....how would a Josh banker know all that stuff......
"33"

At any rate... there is only one person that habitually uses the words "at any rate" in their posts...

I dunno... I hear "clerk" and I think of a check-out stand or someone processing invoices... an "agent" is a representative, so maybe not the best either for our type of work.  However, other words are less appealing, as well..... "baggage", "cargo", "ramp", etc.  I think "Fleet" sounds more glamourous than "Ground", "Service" has a commonality, and, I agree, "Specialist" implies a particular type of work.  Fleet Service Specialist? Maybe....

Call me what you want, as long as I get paid. On the other hand, I thought that it sounded cheesy when the IAM had signs made up calling us "baggage handlers". As you all know, we do lots more than that.

I could fly with Fleet Service Specialist. I just want to sound important for once in my life. It was so hard for me growing up. My Mom called me dumbass and it left mental scars. Some of my oldest friends still call me dumbass.

Yea but unfortunately that's the best way for the public to recognize who we are. They have no clue about our official titles.

That was one of my questions as well. How is a "split operated" (ie: US/Vendor or AA/Vendor) will be settled? Will you take over the station from the vendor? Or will management keep split ops; or try to vendor out the whole station? That's where the strongest scope will come into play. You guys should get back all of the work in situations like I just described.

"Baggage Handlers" in writing was generous. I've heard "Bag Smashers" verbally. B)

This may be off topic for here but I've raised 3 sons & I can't for the life of me understand how a parent could talk to their child like that.
