WN Mechanics seek mediation

Because you are just as delusional as he is.
How many cards have you collected?
Go ask the voices in your head and get back to me. I'll wait.
Worked ot tonight. Asked a bunch of guys about signing a card. Most wanted to see a ta first but none said no. Crappy ta and amfa's toast. Not delusional. You must have amfa shoved up your kazoo so far that you are the delusional one.

Same here, and maintenance control too, some people can't see the Forest from the trees, if they can't bring a T/A and get us to self help, or a shitty deal these guys are toast !

Look out he has Seham on speed dial, what do we do, people are not happy, what do we tell them now?!

If they are really serious of having a road show they will come to the stations at the hangars, or line where we can have the discussions, since most don't come to the off sites, or the company looks better, and don't be arrogant to these guys because they are angry and you will lose them, like the arrogance I have seen on this board!
I was referring to the road show for Dallas as there are so many in Dallas. Not arrogant Driver, I am already informed.

Ok, I'll bite. What union card were you waving at the "bunch of guys" you say you asked to sign a card? It appears that most are good with who they have, otherwise, if it's as you say there would have been a bunch of guys you spoke with signing all kinds of cards, right?

I was wondering the same thing swamt. Let me guess, hmm, could it be the Reamsters? That's a good one. I think he should change his handle to "One too many". Have a good one SWA.

A little history. The first time the teamsters tried getting back in was soon after we fired them and brought in AMFA. While we were getting our officers lined up and voted in the teamster thugs went right to work trying to spread all kinds of lies, false and made up information, and doing everything they could to get the membership to go against AMFA. Then they went as far as trying to pull off a teamster drive, but they were sent packing in about a months period. teamsters were even going to members homes and threatening them and their families, refusing to leave properties and total teamster thug BS to try and threaten their way back in. Some time went on, maybe a couple of years, not really sure, and I believe an AMFA member was fired, suspended or something of that nature and the teamsters tried forcing their way back in again (with the same lies and thug teamsters ways) and they were sent packing in a matter of days, maybe a week. Then some fool made the suggestion that if we can't get AMFA out with the teamsters let's try with the TWU. So with the huge hard on TWU had with AMFA because of the entire AMFA drives at AA, the TWU was more than willing to participate in a card drive at SWA for the AMFA mechanics. Also at this very same time the F/A's were just starting to send a buzz out that they were looking real hard at replacing the TWU representing our F/A's. The TWU was also sent packing in a matter of a few days with no or very few cards signed at all. Not long after that a certain x-teamster union member was dying to get his way, way overly paid compensation back from the teamsters, and just mentioned to one of the x-teamster stewards that he was gonna go ahead with another shot at getting the teamsters in at SWA and the X-teamster steward flat out told him not to waste his time as everyone was extremely happy with how things were with AMFA, he told him that the membership has never been so well informed, sitting in on negotiations at the table, the transparency of unlimited information, the process of being able to remove officers at local level as well as at National level WITHOUT having to completely replace the union, and so on. He finally decided to let it go for the third attempt before it even got off the ground. Wasn't too terribly long after that that AMFA brought out a new contract with added maint, shops work, added headcount. Yea it was a rough start when we first went AMFA as they take a hell of a lot more membership involvement to even run AMFA and I think that is exactly what the mechanics needed at SWA was more control over the union, period. So I would have to say both the teamsters and the TWU are not getting in at SWA. That leaves the 3rd industrial union the IAM. Well just look over at AA and how the IAM is treating their members there. They will not support the TWU's info picketing. They keep switching who is in control of the union every 2 years which just drags out nego's as the 2 different unions keep changing priorities of nego's dependent on who is in charge at the time. Plus, it was the IAM who was the very first union on SWA property to represent the mechanics at SWA. They were the ones that set and allowed the 75% outsourcing ratio from the get go. So I would just scratch those 3 unions off the list. Who else could it be? There really is no other class and craft union out there within the mechanics class to represent. The only other suggestion I have ever heard in a possibility of representing the mechanics at SWA would be to go under the Pilots wings, and that my friends would just crush the company if that were to happen. I am very curious to who he responds with to my question, even if there really was a drive or discussion of a drive, please tell us all what union was being thrown out there to come into SWA to replace AMFA? That question not directed at you Hackman...

We had the chance to go with SWAPA , AMFA said no, so tell me what do you do if you can't get the company to ever move , go on strike no one would even vote for that, we all know that, so you are faced with dragging it out forever, finally come to an agreement, and if it is crap, and passes AMFA will probably be replaced, and if you know you might be replaced then the object would be to never come to an agreement!

Thanks for taking a bite. Now bite on this, I sure wasn't waving your pom poms. All I talked to are open to the idea of a union challenge. All I talked to lost a lot of seniority on this AirTran deal and are not happy campers. They know amfa is getting clobbered at the negotiations table and many have said they feel very little union presence. But almost all wanted to see a t/a before taking part in a union challenge. That's the facts whether you like it or not. Simple to understand. AMFA serves the membership a pile for a t/a, cards get signed. Even a snowflake can understand this.

I will say this people are angry, and are tired of excuses and are starting to lose faith in this union, where I am at if this a turd and that's all we can get and we have waited over 5 years, the membership will be shopping for new representation after all this is over, and that's what they say to me, I mean you will always have die hards that love AMFA !

You are quite the historian. Give us a history lesson of amfa at NWA. If I recall, didn't UAL have amfa for a little while and were sent packing in short order? What happened? You do know, you have been under a teamster contract the whole time amfa has been at SWA, don't you? I think the majority would just love to have the current teamster contract to stay intact.

So the answer to my question was you have absolutely zero cards signed including by you.

Yawn.

AMFA has never said no to the pilots option. It was simply discussed as an option, and put on the back burner. Good God you and the other guy with the strike issues. Just attend the road shows and you will get brought up to date, more so than just the written updates from the Nationals web site.

Once again, what union?

Already told you I am done with the NWA BS. Been there done that and you know it. Research it yourself. If you really think we are still under a teamster contract, you sir need help.

Never said any cards are signed. You can rest easy for a little while longer. I said, all that I talked to were open to a union challenge if the t/a is a dud. They want to see a t/a first. Simple enough to understand. But maybe not.
