WN Mechanics seek mediation

I hope that letter from Mr. Weaks made all our mechanics proud as it did me. Thanks to the men and women of SWAPA for supporting our mechanics and praising them for
It was lifted in Phoenix, and Las Vegas.
Unions back uUnion
their jobs well done. I just LUV the way our unions have come together in support of one another instead of the way the company wanted it with groups solely on their own. Ever since we all came together, it's been a much, much more efficient, productive and awarding relationship for all involved.

I really want to point out an issue that Mr. weaks brought up.
The co. is strongly accusing the mechanics of a job action and yet no proof of illegal or fake write-ups (non-safety write-ups) they have all been legit, so how can they accuse them of an illegal action? Isn't that slanderism? A direct hit on our reputation as aircraft mechanics? Can something (legally) be done? Maybe charges filed? They are trying real hard to make a group of mechanics look like they are doing a job action against the co., they have claimed 100 mechanics. And Weaks have pointed out, as has AMFA that they are all safety and legit write-ups with even a bunch of them coming from our professional pilots themselves, but we never hear a single word about that now do we. Why is that Southwest? Why are you just attacking the mechanics after Southwest has demanded "Compliance, Compliance, Compliance"?
At least our CEO praised the mechanics for going above and beyond to get the aircraft back in service.
The pra below stood out to me...

What is glaringly missing from Mr. Shaw's accusation is the fact that the Company has not stated that there has been any invalid, false, or fabricated safety write ups. Never.

This speaks volumes...

Unions will always back other Unions. I'd like to see a poll of pilots and flight attendants that are losing money every time a flight is delayed or cancelled. My guess is they wouldn't be quite so gracious, not to mention the airline costumer.

“I’m gonna make them an offer they can’t refuse”, at laser focus speed,
says the company big shots. Then they file a lawsuit.
Watch what the company does, as opposed to what they say. After 61/2 years I think the mechanics are starting to get it. Maybe they will really understand at year 7.

They bleed the union dry with lawsuits, then here is your contract. The no voters thought they were so smart and bought AMFA and Seham's bullshit. Well there you go. Go study Northwest Airlines.

I told Swampy it was coming. Regardless if you get a Federal judge to side with you. That's why the ALRs were visiting all the stations with management to warn the guys. The company has ETOPS now. But it's expensive to defend it. With our small size they are getting you as the union, where you economically have to accept the offer, or go broke. Where are the cheerleaders now?

Since you are a newbie I will explain. Back in the day our F/A's (TWU) wanted NOTHING to do with AMFA as I am sure you know why. The Pilots wanted to get involved with us but the previous President didn't want anything to do with AMFA either. The new President of SWAPA came on board and our AMFA leaders reached out to him and his entire Master Executive Committee to get together and form a group to bring all our unions closer together. The TWU did not attend this meeting. Later the TWU fired their leader and brought in a new one that was open to getting involved with us to get united with all unions on the property. And now we are all supporting one another and so united it's driving the company mad.
We are all one big happy family now and will support one another as needed, just as the Pilots, F/A's, and Ramp groups have supported AMFA lately. Go back and read Jon Weaks letters in support of AMFA and you will get a better idea...

Your big happy family will only support you so much, till it cost them money. Or SWA files an injunction on them for helping us, something called the status quo. I guarantee if the TWU thought we were fed up with AMFA , and were shopping for a new union, they would happily do a card drive.

BTW, here's the latest support letter from SWAPA:

February 25 – SWAPA President Jon Weaks State of Managerial Emergency
The last few weeks have highlighted how poorly upper management at Southwest Airlines is performing, how it truly views labor, how ineffective its communication and execution of our daily operation are, and how everyone at OUR airline should be concerned.

Last week, Southwest declared a State of Operational Emergency (SOE), a veiled attempt designed to intimidate our mechanics that has instead caused unnecessary fear and safety concerns in our passengers and the flying public. When the nation saw Southwest blaming an employee group wedded to the safety of our aircraft for our maintenance issues, the questions and concerns intensified. What followed this declaration is perhaps the most egregious display by management of tribalizing and scapegoating our employees in the history of our Company.

On Thursday, February 19, Mr. Van de Ven, Chief Operating Officer (COO), sent a company-wide update on our out-of-service aircraft. In it, he stated, “On February 12, just days after our last negotiation session with AMFA, we experienced an unprecedented number of out-of-service aircraft in four specific maintenance locations.” By doing so, he was not subtle in his implication that the number of aircraft out of service was directly correlated with negotiations, and thus, AMFA was hurting our Company over negotiations. Our COO completed throwing our mechanics under the bus with, “Unfortunately, AMFA has a history of work disruptions, and Southwest has two pending lawsuits against the union,” while citing no evidence of a “work disruption” other than the number of aircraft out of service. As the saying goes, correlation is not causation.

What did Mr. Van de Ven conveniently leave out? …

Didn't stop the company lawsuit did it, we aren't do anything illegal . We got your back AMFA , until it cost us.

I told you before that they will be passing out popsicles in hell before the TWU ever represents the mechanics at SWA. The teamsters would have a better chance than the TWU.

I said if we were shopping for a new union, read what I post. Funny thing how lawsuits work, one day after the lawsuit the out of service a/c comes way down. But did we just prove AMFA's collusion to the company? Like I said foot we are our own worst enemy.

The TWU has no interest in starting or being a part of any card drives at SWA against AMFA.
