Somebody is pulling our chainsDidn't AMFA say the Company would never get approval from the FAA for ETOPS without a contract? Just another one of many lies spewed by AMFA! They lied to us the road shows and they continue to lie!
Didn't AMFA say the Company would never get approval from the FAA for ETOPS without a contract? Just another one of many lies spewed by AMFA! They lied to us the road shows and they continue to lie!
The fact is Foot this was perpetrated during the road shows and voting process. It was only when you cornered Cramer the ALR from local 4, he admitted we could not stop ETOPS. However people believed it, and voted accordingly. But with Kelly finally wondering into this quagmire , maybe we will finally get a T/A with no funny business.I read that rumor in a couple news articles where "inside sources said". I have not heard an AMFA leader state that, but rather the opposite, that AMFA could not stop ETOPS. I don't think it was ever our intention to stop ETOPS but rather that we were the ones servicing the ETOPS aircraft. ETOPS is a good thing.
No. AMFA did not say that. Matter fact they said the opposite.Didn't AMFA say the Company would never get approval from the FAA for ETOPS without a contract? Just another one of many lies spewed by AMFA! They lied to us the road shows and they continue to lie!
Correct. AMFA is trying to keep the ETOPS aircraft as our work at stations we serve with our maint.I read that rumor in a couple news articles where "inside sources said". driver I cannot speak on your road shows, but, it was NEVER perpetrated that we could stop them from getting ETOPS at any of the other RS's. I also do not believe anyone voted no just because they thought they could stop the ETOPS's process. The fact is Foot this was perpetrated during the road shows and voting process. Yes, and they are still doing it with this new article I read this morning. Nothing about AMFA saying they can stop ETOPS, it is only assumed by media reports, never suggested or stated by any AMFA representative, verbally or in writing. In the road show I attended the ALR stated that AMFA could not stop ETOPS. I haven't seen any effort to do so. The rumor that Southwest would not get approval from the FAA for ETOPS until a contract was signed was started by news journalists.

Unfortunately our law firm and Bret through updates stated they were looking at file an injunction, and that enough is to give people false hope that we had some power over the company. The only thing we have is to do our jobs. However if we did it would be counter productive. With all these delays Kelly and the board of directors will want a smooth operation, especially getting aircraft on time in our system to make these ETOPS flights, and connections between the West Coast and Hawaii.You forgot one;
D) news media
Correct. They did. After analyzing and further investigations it was found that an injunction was not warranted by the findings.Unfortunately our law firm and Bret through updates stated they were looking at file an injunction, and that enough is to give people false hope that we had some power over the company. Southwest Mechanics Threaten To Throw Legal Wrench in Airline’s Proposed Hawaiian Operations
CENTENNIAL, CO – October 24, 2017 – Bret Oestreich, National Director of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA), announced that the union will be filing legal action that could disrupt Southwest Airlines’ plan to initiate service to Hawaii in 2018.
“Southwest Airlines has the lowest ratio of mechanics to aircraft of any major carrier,” commented Oestreich. “Now, the carrier wants to expand its service over open waters without accepting direct responsibility for the airworthiness of its aircraft. Not only is this irresponsible, but it is a direct violation of our contract, and we are not going to allow it to happen.”
Southwest Airlines has historically been a domestic carrier with limited international experience. In order for its 737 aircraft to fly internationally, including service to Hawaii, the planes must be ETOPS (Extended Operations) certified and maintained.
In a recent contract proposal, the Company offered a commitment to use Southwest Mechanics to perform ETOPS departure checks within the 48 contiguous states in return for the contractual right to use vendors to perform ETOPS work outside the 48 contiguous states. Despite the fact that AMFA never agreed to this proposal, and the parties remain in negotiations that have dragged out for more than five years, Southwest recently announced its plan to outsource ETOPS work related to its Hawaiian operations.
“Southwest’s entire Hawaii business plan is premised on going forward with a maintenance plan that violates our contract,” stated Oestreich. “AMFA’s legal action seeks a cease and desist order that will stop Southwest dead in its tracks. If Southwest wants to fly safely to Hawaii, it has to operate within the existing contractual limitations. It is time for Southwest to accept greater responsibility for maintaining its own aircraft.”

Optimus, SWA stock popped today on the ETOPS and the rumor Warren Buffett Berkshire Hathaway is considering acquiring SWA in it's entirety, SWA response " There has been speculation circulating that Warren Buffett might be looking to acquire an airline for some time and that Southwest might be a good fit. As a policy , we do not comment on speculation , but appreciate Berkshire's continued support of Southwest Airlines." -AMFA is a flea on the back of a pit bull.Bret Oestreich, national director of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, or AMFA, sent out a statement today saying the union will file for a cease and desist order that will “stop Southwest dead in its tracks” in regard to the Hawaii flights.

Makes for interesting speculation.Buffet won’t ever buy an Arline again, out of his mouth. He lost over $300 million at US back in the early 90s. And just lost another $700 million. It’s all speculation by Wall Street.

He also owns a nice chunk of AA, B6 and DL or did own.

Now the company has ETOPS, Landon Nitschke just announced a lawsuit has been filed against AMFA and it's leadership for, job action on out of service aircraft. Told you it was coming Swampy. So now does AMFA file a lawsuit to block ETOPS. But we have them right where we want them. Check your emails gentlemen.No. AMFA did not say that. Matter fact they said the opposite.
As Crow has stated, They said they could NOT stop the co. from getting ETOPS with or without a new contract.
Correct. AMFA is trying to keep the ETOPS aircraft as our work at stations we serve with our maint.

With GK finally addressing the mechanics, at least with his latest letter, as well as the Pilots and F/A's support in the media, I think he has had enough pressure from the investors and BOD. It was shortly after his letter that we heard that the co. is going to offer something at the March meetings that the union can't refuse (co words there) but, we have heard this before from the same person on co side so don't believe it at all as he has been wrong a lot in the past.
It was the media, as reported by Crow, that started the rumors about ETOPS getting stalled out because of the no contract issue.
Yes, and they are still doing it with this new article I read this morning. Nothing about AMFA saying they can stop ETOPS, it is only assumed by media reports, never suggested or stated by any AMFA representative, verbally or in writing.
BTW, I guess the rumors of the emergency meetings are just that, rumors. Not meeting at this time until 12-14th March. As this came from the same person, now I am concerned with the other rumblings about the offer coming or not coming.
Below is an article that actually states we only have a verbal at this point and time while waiting for the final word or report card to come. And again the media is saying possible reasons for no ETOPS as of yet, no quotes from AMFA.
