Some people are living waaaaay out of their means and are desperate for money. (I'm not saying driver is) We have guys on the floor screaming how pissed they are that this did not pass. I can name very quickly half dozen guys that have gotten loans, tapped their 401K's and even forced to work overtime to pay bills. These are the exact types the co. was putting a lot of stock in to just jump on the first low ball offer they through out there.
I still remember hear say from the co. side (old NC) that the mechanics will take pennies on the dollar for the retro pay as they have in the past. And it was partly true as they have gotten past votes to go thru with a much more reduced nego's after waiting forever and desperate people needing the raise to make ends meet. This time around most were ready for the long dragged out nego's and the membership will not settle for anything less than what has been offered in the past that equals full retro.
But, once again the company just successfully closed the door on any vote coming soon when they pulled the international crap out again. I can only speak for myself, but there are many others that have agreed, I am no on any international outsourcing.
looks like we may be in for yet another long year with no new contract...

I don't live beyond my means, but to keep up with a retirement plan, you have to pick up overtime, to be able to retire someday. Because God forbid if the drivers of the No vote, do not get everything they think they are entitled to, we will not approve a contract. Like I said, what about the guys who have died. It looks like cracks are developing in AMFA armor. It will be harder and harder to not come to a deal. We are the laughing stock of all the unions. If you get past August then we go into year eight. You defeat yourselves trying to get money. But keep playing that same playbook why SWA waits.

You honestly think AMFA is doing a good job, going to year 7 or beyond to get a 5 year agreement, for what a pay scale and no increase in vacation or retirement?Because my friend any industrial union could do that is less time. You will defend them to the death, and never admit they really don't have any teeth. It's easy to vote No, when it is implied that the company has another offer, coming that is what was preached from the road shows and the brow beating on Facebook, for guys that wanted to vote yes and move on. You bet guys are mad, because the company will pay more, but there will be strings. But the big bad no voters didn't think that would happen, or were to stupid to see it! So that leaves you with two choices try to get as much as you can and preserve your language, or AMFA continues to make excuses and not settle, very sad indeed.

All I know Weazz he has no right to criticize American , when our country club craft union, can not basically after 6 years ,-a raise, some backpay, no increase in Vacation or Retirement, want and expect us to trust their leadership to get more. They wanted to preserve the stores positions for GSE parts, about 10 positions out of 350. So they kept voting no , mainly in Dallas. And wanted more money, so they kept the positions and got a little more back pay. So it should pass this time.
