Wisconsin

You are new to the water cooler. I am sure you will figure out that answer in short order. I strongly recommend the ignore function.

Yes we are in the Water Cooler.

Do we suspend civility? I'd like to think the answer is no. Plus the poster in question often makes salient points that get lost in the 14 year old drama queen nature of her posts.

"Libtard"? How does that type of thing lend credibility to the posters commentary?

Being a Libertarian I've little use for liberal or conservative dogma. But I do respect their right to post an opinion and i can usually string together two sentences of lucidity without name calling even though I'd often like to.

700UW and I have known and sparred with each other for going on ten years and I'm not sure we agree if the sun rises in the east much less anything else. Do you see us calling each other names like "Libtard" and worse?

We live in a coarse enough world without the poop slinging here. Civility, try it

Did not mean that it should. Only that this type of behavior is common place in the WC. It is unfortunate but it is also a reality. I decided that I would not converse with a person who cannot conduct an argument in a civil manner. I do not miss the interaction one bit. Those who entertain the behavior only encourage it. If everyone would ignore it, then perhaps she would either learn how to argue with out personal attacks and insults or leave. Either option would be fine with me. I no longer read or respond to her posts. It is bad enough that I have to read her drivel when someone quotes her. I wish more people would utilize the ignore feature.

I agree, you and I have had out share of disagreements and as far as I am aware, they have always remained civil. It is not very hard to accomplish.

Indeed I stand by my statement as Governor Walker is a public figure. He chose to be in the public eye. No one here has made that same choice.

Perhaps a better descriptor would be, " Scott Walker is sleazy headline grabbing politician" if that makes you feel better

BTW you calling me a drunk on that thread as well IIRC.

Oh I see. Civility is subjective when it suits your defense (or offense). Right? Why doesn't that surprise me?

And yes your post was very much disconnected and nonsensical, much like someone who is plastered trying to make a point.

How so? Others seemed to think I raised a few points. Also how does one determine ones BAC via the internet? Why would that be an issue to you? Unless of course you're projecting your current state of intoxication on me.

Funny I post paragraphs and you post one line zingesr devoid of substance, so who exactly are you to comment on the lucidity of my commentary. I was on these boards when you got here and I'll be here when you're gone. Have a nice US Aviation Day

I can smell the gin from here?

Just curious but has anyone heard the latest in this debacle. I couldn't really find any news today. Of course I didn't look to hard either LOL :D

Still status quo. Walker won't budge, and the people's uprising peacefully continues, despite the efforts to provoke them. 14 Dems. are still in IL, there's recall efforts going for them, Walker, and 8 Republicans. There's an injunction demanding the capitol stay open, even as concrete barriers are being put in place around it. One assemblyman moved his desk outside to be closer to his constituents.

Whats up with that article 13 of the state constitution? maybe another number, heard it while I was working. Something where Walker can declare the dem seat vacant and proceed with the vote without them.

Looking like its going to pass in Ohio.

It's Article 13, section 10.

"Vacancies in office. SECTION 10. [As amended April 1979]
(1) The legislature may declare the cases in which any office
shall be deemed vacant, and also the manner of filling the
vacancy, where no provision is made for that purpose in this constitution.
(2) Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of lieutenant
governor, the governor shall nominate a successor to serve for
the balance of the unexpired term, who shall take office after
confirmation by the senate and by the assembly. [1977 J.R. 32,
1979 J.R. 3, vote April 1979]"

based on the above, it doesn't look like something Walker can do alone. Legality aside, I suspect that many Republicans would back off of something like that for fear of a backlash.

On a sidebar, there's a recall campaign afoot for Lt. Gov. Kleefeisch (sp?) as well. If there's no governor seated to appoint a new Lt. Gov., who does it?

I heard a snippet yesterday and some Judge or legal type made light of it.

Unions must hate President Obama for denying federal union workers collective bargaining rights while Dems controlled everything in DC.
