Winter Timetable...new Services

AA has plans to service BOM via BRU sometime in late 2006 or early 2007 from JFK. It will be flown with the 767-300 2 class. It was mentioned by the NYC base manager (H.F.) a few weeks ago. They also have plans for several other destinations from JFK, once the new terminal is 100% complete.

Right now JFK is our biggest International flight attendant base. And if what the company wants to do comes to fruittion (the winglets on the 757), they will be adding at lest 7 more European ciies in the next 2 years. This is what the company told us this year at Purser refresher. Who knows?

JFK-I is bigger than MIA-I?

I don't know the exact numbers but there is a sizeable south Asian community in Chicago. An entire swath of the far north side is Indian and Pakistani. But I think ORD-DEL is happening because it's a dormant UA route.

UA attempted to fly ORD-Delhi twice, the last time in 2001 before the 9/11 events. They were going to use 744 with"phase III " P&W engines. I don't know when the first UA try was made, but it was in the 1990's. Nonstop to India is a recognition of the markets maturity & reach of critical mass. Lets not forget Delta(Pan AM) and NW have been serving India via Europe for decades. UA did fly to Dehli via LHR with a 767 when it had round the word flights. ORD or JFK- Mumbai nonstop is what I'm waitng for.

Everything is a rumour until confirmed, but AA does plan on launching Bombay service next year, probably via Brussels.

AA sent a 757 to MSY yesterday full of supplies and such to support the relief effort, and then filled it up with stranded residents and employees for the flight home. Apparently the airport is now completely surrounded by water with no power. Might be some time before it reopens to scheduled service.

MSY is now closed to non-relief flights until at least the 7th, possibly the 8th. Being turned into a refugee site and field hospital.

For what it's worth, CNN is saying at least 2 months till MSY is fully open for commercial service.

Southwest is running medical and evacuation missions from MSY to LUV per CNN.

Once the airport reopens to commerical traffic, all night time terminators and morning originators into and out of MSY will be cancelled for the next several months due to lack of adequate layover facilities.

I am also guessing American Eagle's start up service to Gulfport has been shelved indefinitely.

AA applied for New York/JFK-Los Cabos service today, WeSa 757 service, year-round on Sa/seasonal on We. They are competeing with Delta for the authority, though.
