Will Oneworld lose JAL?

With the above stated news, the AA/BA/IB linkup probably being denied, and all three unions on the verge of self-help, I have a feeling AA's world is about to come crashing (no pun intended) down on them. Do we park them between Pan Am and Eastern, or Braniff and TWA. Get ready for the show!!

Well, I dont think its THAT serious, but nonetheless, it will not be good if OW loses JAL, which it looks very possible. The real worries should come if Cathay ends up leaving, then there will be problems. Typically, the best contracts have been negotiatied in the worst times, so, regardless, AA should at least give their employess back what they gave up.

What, don't they know the wunderkind at AMR take the entire weekend off?

JAL is as good as gone.Arpey and the 'Gee Whiz' MBA kids are trying to figure out how to "Retreat with dignity" from this latest debacle.

I can see it now... "The pacific region really isn't a growth area for us, we're more focused on the challenges of air to air refueling of Eagle RJ's on the North Atlantic and our continued retreat on all domestic fronts."

Flightplan 2020 is a misnomer, it should be called "Frightplan 2020".
Just the weekend? But its Thanksgiving ... ... ...

IMHO, it is up to AA alone to prevent JAL from jumping ship. BA is busy looking out for itself by acquiring IB, Finnair has its own labor problems, CX and QN looks like want nothing to do with the JAL mess, which leaves Malev, LAN & Royal Jordanian to chip in $20 into the AA - TPG deal for JAL

<_< ------- Well, it looks like it's "put up, or shut up" time for AA!!!!

AMR will play games, but in the end AMR will shut up. aa has never been a real international airline. the just want to try to play with the big boys and be a international airline. aa management mind set is domestic, they do not have any international management expericence.

Interesting, and what US carriers have the international experience?
