Will Hp Take Us's Gates At Lax?

This is some pretty bold talk for an employee of an airline that was just about out of business not too long ago (twice). You must be a new hire who doesn't know the pain of these trying times.

Don't count US out yet- There's still a lot of Piedmont/PSA spirit left.

There are some issues concerning space for a bag room and a bag belt.

Understandable. As we know from last month, US needs a B-I-G bag room!

(Sorry--that was just too good a setup line to resist...)

You know one of these days, and it could be real soon, all of these LCC's like AWA are going to be saying to themselves "What happened?" and "How'd they do that?" Look out folks, if US's management can pull this off, their cost will be low enough to rival the unstable LCC's right now like AWA. Be careful of what you ask for! It could turn around and bite you in the #ss! These are some pretty deep cuts in costs that US is making, well ahead of ALL the other legacy carriers! Their day in court is coming soon too.....mark my words!

And as for Terminal 1, US can only hope to get out of that jammed packed bus station depot!

I agree 100%. Where do you guys at AWA get off on some of the past post hinting to our demise? How many time down the chapter 11 road did you guys go? Amazing!!

As far a terminal one, you can have it. Between the winding SWA boarding lines and the congestion at that end of the airport, it's a mess. If just one 747 pushes back out of Terminal 2, EVERYONE on that side of the terminal is paralyzed. Buh, Bye.

And AWA has been in bankruptcy court before - was it something like 11 times from the 80's into the 90's??

I don't know what history book you are reading, but AWA was bankrupt once, from 1991 until 1994. They came close in 2001, but they were the poster child for the ATSB, in that they had new financing ready to be signed the week of 9/10/01, which obviously fell apart.

Then their filings were extended consistently by the Judge.

Apparently so, but certainly no worse than CAL at the time, or UAL today.

Well, how long ago was it that US Airways was supposed to move over to T7/8 with UAL and out of T1 anyways? It seems I recall reading posts on these forums suggesting that this was supposed to happen long before now...

Well, the "Airports and Lounges" section of the Star Alliance website lists US as being in T6/7 at LAX with UA, with check-in apparently near UA's counters in T6.

It also lists US as sharing UA gates in SFO, with check-in near AA's Concourse (E).

So, they're may be a move in the offing, or maybe the Star Alliance is out of the loop

I like terminal 1. Its close to the planes, its not a confusing maze like terminal 6, and its not grossly outdated like terminal 1 or 2.

I fly through T1 and the Bradley terminal all the time, while LAX is usually a royal pain in the ass, having a terminal at the end of the runway is nice.

I also like the fact that T-1 is right next to 24L/24R - making for fast departures.

America West joins loss parade: America West became the latest major carrier to report a loss, saying it was down $49.7 million during the fourth quarter of 2004. The carrier turned a $6.8 million profit during the same quarter in 2003. It was the second straight quarterly loss for the carrier, and America West CEO Doug Parker didn't sound optimistic for the year ahead. "At this point, it appears 2005 will be another difficult year for the industry. Fuel prices are projected to remain high and despite the significant difficulties facing many carriers, a material reduction in domestic capacity has not yet occurred," he said in a statement quoted by The Associated Press. Looks like US is not going anywhere anytime soon boys and girls. For those of you that are supporting US, "Thank You", for those who are wishing for our demise, don't get got with pie on your face.

Be careful.......rumor has it we may be ONE someday.

Still here. Don't you guys know that US Airways never dies? We're like Jason Voorhes or Freddy Krueger. You stab them, kick them while thier down, and assume they are dead, and they jump back up, and come back in numerous sequels.

Or, they are like Cher. Indeterminate age, falls in and out of popularity, makes dodgy career choices but looks great, sometimes a shining icon and sometimes a campy joke, but always around. You think she's in an old folks home making infomercials and then next thing you know she's got the number one record in the world. That's what US Airways is like, you think thier career is over but they surprise you with a comeback every few years, because they have some sort of talent (employees) that always pulls them through.

How much of other airlines posts on USAviation are about either "what our own bankrupt ass is supposedly going to buy from US Airways" or "the final nail in the coffin of US Airways"? A whole lot. What, nothing's going on at the nations other airlines that are all so special and more deserving than US? Give me a break.

US Airways is still here, and will be. Get over it.

AWA management told employees recently that they were working on getting more gates at LAX. So maybe something is happening. Of course, everyone has expected US to leave T1 for a long time now. I know AWA has been working to get the gates for a while now, but as far as I know, it's the first time management has used the words "more gates" and LAX together.

Honestly,

This has been "thrown around" since our alliance started with UA years ago. It has nothing to do with US "demise".
As all the papers have been reporting...an oversees investment group wishes to purchase US and still run it as US.
Looks like everybody sees that good that we actually have. I don't see oversees investers wanting to buy anyone else..do you?
