I know management lurks on these boards so I have a question for them or ANYONE who may be in the know.

A friend of my said we were getting glassware back in FC on East but it was delayed because they are waiting for the inserts for the mugs. Is this true? The CLT Inflight newsletter in May stated it would be on board June 14, 2006. Hummmmm...what's today?

ARE we getting glassware back on the East? And WHEN will we see it?

Also, why are we using plastic cutlery in FC? It is sooo tacky!

Answers anyone?

OOPS...glassware!! 🙂

Not sure when but I do believe it is to only be for transcon. I know we have used it on int'l but where the hell is all the other glassware we had on EVERY aircraft at east? The sure as hell didnt sent the atlas carriers with the glassware in them to the desert with the planes. LOL

It will be matching what's going on out west... we have all the us airways glassware and china already, just changed from the AW logos to the US logos and there sharp! It will only be on the meal flights that you will have glassware, so like phl-sea, clt-phx type thing... sure it's coming soon!!

Catering welcomes your input along with Inflight...FA's will be the decision makers in cart set-up, packouts, service procedures..make yourself known and get involved with the process and use your skill as a FA, your input is needed!!!

There were metal knives on transatlantic flights except for UK cities like MAN, LGW and GLA. Did the queen allow metal knives again? I would think no.

You had metal flatware? OMG......shut the system down! ! ! ! We should have them if we have f/c or whatever they are trying to figure it to be. Nobody wants to cut into a piece of rubbery chicken with a plastic fork& knive. Also spoons and plastic cups like your at a picnic. Did you have linen on your flight too? Boy those were the days. God forbid they give us linens to lay over the nasty dirty tray tables. Just a few weeks ago I had to wipe off EVERY f/c tray table. When opened they had muddy water all over them. YEP....world class. One I swear was in the shape of a bootprint. 😉

I guess we still know who gets what first. I worked a transcon last weekend and had old US Airways china mixed in with America West...ON THE SAME TRAY! Nice and classy. The fact of the matter is that no one in marketing or catering really cares what our customers get. Just schlock the old crap out there and no one will notice. Wrong. I got two comments about our whether our "low cost status" was keeping us from tossing out the America West logoed items.

I heard there is no silverware because they thought the Easties would steal it.

And does EVERY topic have to go back to the Westies serving 1/2 the mini 😉 Alcohol has consumed all of you....because you ain't sure able to consume any alcohol on HP. 😛

Maybe I'm just from a different generation, but I really think that glasses and metal flatware are really that important in and of themselves. Sure I suppose that I think that UA's F is better because of glass and metal, but I'd gladly give that up if they would serve more edible food and a decent wine. Food and drink should be the priority for improvement.

I don't know...drinking wine (though far from the finest at US) out of plastic is kinda....well college. Maybe I'll bring the wine around to serve seat side in a brown bag. Like some Tiger Rose drunk under the bench in a park. Glass, china and real flatware at least make you feel like your getting f/c treatment even when your not.
