I would say Buck if the line actually feels they are getting screwed by both the Union and the company that will what gets the stone rolling. Just have your meetings, get everyone on the same page. This is the ONE union we are going to use, and then you guys won't get screwed by Fake cards and other Bullshit good luck! The first item is that the Line is now larger than Base Maintenance. For years the Tulsa Union members treated the Line like a child stepping on them at every turn. It was not all of the mechanics, but mostly non-A&P's. The machinists did not care for the mechanic as they have always felt threatened. Money, but a cost of living with Tulsa being the base or 0%

???????? Do you give money to AA each month directly taken from your check? I dumped my COPE fund donation years ago because of the TWU's support of only Democrats & socialized health care. I would choose agency fee also if it was not such a pain in the ass to do so. Unions might get more respect from its membership if they treated Check Off the same as Agency Fee in the form of payroll deduction. I also would have also dropped out of a voluntary political contribution plan if it was run by AA because of some of the political & social views AA supports.

So the AFL-CIO supports a guy who just contracted out all facility maintenance jobs at LGA and not just AA all airlines and PAAnother reason to stay away from the AFL-CIO. Some issues they financially support with our dues money may not be in your peronal interest. I was disappointed when the supreme Court ruling was made. I don't support this political candidate or his party. Why should money from all members support him? It's all political between unions and politicians. We as members are funding this. There are issues that can be justified by using our dues. This guy is not one of them.

Ok, I was just making a statement because prior to the bankruptcy I looked into that very thing. That’s not what I asked.

Ended up purchasing American and did well at the bankruptcy.
If we were ever competitive negotiating with SWA Mechanics we probably would be taken a direction as you suggest.. Over the years we the mechanics rode the bottom of the industry pay scale keeping a higher number of members/employees, which of course is an industry union goal to generate more dues and membership during a time of a downward run in unionism. I would say that overall the union has been very passive. The last strike was in 1968 I believe and the union made no advances.I would say Buck if the line actually feels they are getting screwed by both the Union and the company that will what gets the stone rolling. How many people on this very site have denied that very thing?Jim is an idiot if he does not understand his union supports the liberal left whack jobs with his dues.
In 1968, the world was a very different place, ten years before deregulation. Back then the Airlines all contributed to a strike fund. If they could get the union to strike for 30 days, the Airline got their money back. Then magically after 30 days the contract was settled. The industrial unions played the game, and so did the Airlines. One of the guys that was on my crew retired about 4 years ago. He worked for National Airlines, as a flight engineer on B727, until they were bought by Pandemonium Pan Am. He called National Cobra Airlines, we strike at ANYTHING. I hope you guys get it together. If we were ever competitive negotiating with SWA Mechanics we probably would be taken a direction as you suggest.. The difference is I paid the UNION, American Airlines paid ME.Do you have any say who the Corporation you work for choses to donate money too? Have you agreed with all of the causes that AA supports?
Give? Compulsory deductions are not giving.Do you give money to AA each month directly taken from your check?
That is a lie. Political groups run ban lists all of the time. Chick-fil-a for instance. I myself refuse to do business with Starbucks due to them pushing leftist agendas.I’ve never argued that you should support the Political causes either your Company or your Union support. But I also know that every single Company that I pay a bill to has causes and Political agendas that they donate to and that funding comes directly from my pocket whether I like it or not.
Absolutely no different than where my Taxes go that support programs that I also might not agree with. And you have no way to completely isolate yourself from that fact.
Truth.Nope, absolutely not! However I do not PAY the company to represent me.
Who I work for and who I buy my products from are choices I made. I will say it again, I did not put my application in the TWU, I put it in American Airlines. What I’m trying to say is that we support passively all sorts of causes we might not directly prefer to support if given the choice by who we work for and all the items we purchase in life and who we purchase them from.
And a Union provides basically a product as well that even occasionally donates to things that the most staunchest of Conservatives may actually support.
