As I sit here typing, Matt Lauer is inteviewing two reps from the Zagat Airline Survey. They brought up the fact that USAirways is the worst in most every respect and that we've had our ongoing problems over the years. The graphic showed USAirways as worst on-time performance.

They said go to todayshow.com for more information.

It's so nice to get singled out that way on national TV. I imagine our airplanes will be empty over the weekend as a result.

Finally!!!! Consistency...US consistently sucks.

Planes won't be empty, but will be complaining more once they see a report like that.

i am sure they will be full flights. pax will be complaining but they will be full.

   Yes sooo true- consistently the worst- and Tempe doesnt give a damn! Flights will be full, no doubt, but just another reason for paxs to #### and moan.

YUP, and some will complain that the flight went ON TIME, because they didn't get their ass to the airport in time and ended up missing their flight! BUT, it's OUR FAULT, because we weren't accomodating. Everything else was full and there was no other choice but standby on the next available. It's a no win situation in this business. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

I saw the same broadcast. It's not really news. US has been in the tank in DOT stats for quite a long time. I wonder if Shagrue (sp?) trademarked 'The New Eastern' back when he tried to restart that airline, or could we use it? US has the same reputation as EA did in its final years: a once great airline that was reduced to rubble. Well, I don't know if the "once great" part is accurate for US/HP/AL, but it certainly is for PI...A Model Of How Good An Airline Can Be. The rubble part is spot-on, though, in describing the US of today.

It is sad when you think of the potential which is being wasted here. Despite all the problems, US once had an admirable product, a killer route network, and some of the best front line employees in the industry.

What could have been a successful merger which could have created a powerhouse has turned into the laughing stock of the airline industry. As one who has spent significant time and money trying to help, I am saddened and embarrassed by what this has become. I have to agree with my colleague Piney Bob--it's not looking good. To aspire to mediocrity is not my idea of managing expectations.

Delays due to congestion, weather, and ATC happen to all airlines. The problem here is that the front line is not given the tools to handle these problems and reaccommodate passengers adequately. To quote Bob, this is part of the high cost of cheap.

Until this management team stops looking at employees and customers as liabilities, and puts their interests AHEAD of their own and those of the shareholders, there is no hope. It needs to be employees FIRST, customers SECOND, and shareholders/management THIRD. Take care of 1 and 2 and 3 takes care of itself.

I think this holiday season will tell us alot--and unfortunately I don't think the news will be good.

My BEST to you all.....

Saw this show also and the interview was done with Mr and Mrs Zagat themselves. Yes, we got trashed. What I found interesting was that the survey was done using over 6,000 FF's. I went to the zagat.com website and the actual survey is fair better than the interview. Most felt we were getting better. The AWA merger hurt us. The FF's emotionally hate us and verbally trash us. However, DP better get into the good graces of the FF's the survey was solely their opinion.

Just like there is a finite number of high Yield Elites there is also a finite number of low yield "kettles". Contrary to popular belief the Kettle Krowd can and does read. So what happens when all of the price sensitive Kettles see all of the negative press on US and look for the cheapest price anyplace but US Airways? Who indeed will fill the seats then?
I could not agree with you more PB - you're 100% accurate regarding the behavior of low yield "Kettles"!

Shhh…

Don’t give Parker any ideas about airing TV commercials with him holding an employee town hall meeting in a hangar.

Empty airplanes over the weekend? Are you joking?

I don't think it's related to the Zagat survey (oil is up), but US stock hit an all-time intraday low today - $19.71 (so far) vs $20.10 the day it was first publicly traded.

We've certainly had more than our share of screw ups, but I still am optomistic about the future of this airline. Everybody trashes our otp but they fail to mention we've been hovering around 80 pct on time since before Labor Day. They are quoting old stats. They conveniently leave out the fact our operation is running smoothly now because it doesn't make for sensationalism. All indications seem to confirm we are better prepared for the holiday rush and bad weather this winter. Don't look for another meltdown. And BTW, I haven't had any Kool-Aid in months.

Another point to consider: The only thing worse than bad publicity is no publicity. I doubt if this latest coverage will affect us negatively at all.

US is still among the worst even with the statistics you are citing.

Maybe in Hollywood. 🙄
