US Pilots Labor Discussion 8/25- STAY ON TOPIC AND OBSERVE THE RULES

Hey 767Jetz,

We were too busy beating up on each other to answer your question the other day. No word on LOA 93, but rumors are flying that USAPA won. I chalk that up to a loss.

Rumor mills are notoriously strong. My guess is that if it was won there would certainly be an official statement by someone.

If you win it will be interesting how it will affect things moving forward. IMO it would probably solidify the stalemate until the courts finish their work. In the mean time it would be a great boost for you guys. It would also probably help the cause at UA/CO and AA. Would the rates restore to pre 9/11 wages?

Crimi Recall- vote your conscience- if you think he does a good job keep him- if you think he is a problem, recall him- I would be more concerned if the comm committee guy who went to CO during their strike ever sought a rep position.

Three stripes- Four stripes- the West manual says displaced captains can wear four on their jacket with an f/o hat and three on the shirt. But I thought that was to get you to the next jacket allotment (every four years). Since there was an entire uniform reissue with the merger, I would have thought M&H would have issued the correct attire to each employee. My question would be, does the east have to pay for your uniforms? If so, I say wear whatever you are willing to buy. One more thing, I do not think I have ever noticed an east pilot in a leather jacket. I do not wear one, but was curious if east pilots can wear them and if any do.

LOA93- it was a closed door topic at the BPR meeting, I suspect there is no decision from the arbitrator yet.

PA announcements- Except for the PA for evacuation, I never say "this is the Captain"- plausible deniability?

I've heard the "Co-Captain" announcement a few times. This was when we did, in fact, have 2 captains. I've had this happen on Southwest, Mesa, ExpressJet, USAirways (can't remember which -side-), and on United. Typically I'd ask the FA or when I say hello or goodbye to the crews.

Crimi is a union buster. It boggles the mind that there is any question to what should be done with his recall. He also flat out lies about his motives, and why he left. He left because the rules changed and he was going to be stapled as a new hire, not waltz in as a senior rj captain like he was promised. It was to be his reward from Ornstein for assisting him in busting the union. It worked.

Great Job Steve.

Some airlines (I know Southwest does) have Lance Captains that are dual seat qualified. They bid the f/o schedules but can be used as Captain if they pick up time, or can be used on reserve in either seat.

It's embarrassing when the Captain uses the word "co-Captain" during a PA.

My job is to assist him and watch his back.

He has final authority over the aircraft and crew.

The limit of my authority is whether he does so with or without me on board the aircraft.

Well I drink a lot of Captain and coke, does that make me a captain?

To answer the question about the leather jackets, yes they do wear them.

These FO's who where 4 stripes are about as much of a captain as my furloughed butt is wearing a four stripe shirt on the couch! Pathetic

PSW737,

How about I bring my bottle of Captain over and we can decide who's going to be co-captain on your couch?

In 30 years I have NEVER heard A-N-Y pilot refer to themselves as a Co Captain...........ridiculous, and certainly NOT on the PA.

What's complicated about a uniform piece option?

I guess he thinks it would be complicated since the leather jackets came about after the majority of these former captains were downgrade to fo. If they can buy a new uniform piece(leather coat) they ought to be able to buy the new fo epalettes to wear since they are now fo's.
