US Airways Pilot Arrested

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

The DA needs to show probable cause for a judge to issue a search warrant. The purpose of said warraant is to gather evidence that will ultinately be tested by the jury. The defense is also free to investigate and gather evidence to be teasted.

As of now no one is presumed guilty

Where there is smoke, there is fire.

They should search his computer, to rid this world of a pedophile or child pornographer is ok in my book.
While I agree that his actions were not acceptable, potentially illegal and somewhat deplorable; there is no demonstrable proof that he is either of those things.

The definition of pedophile is "an adult that is sexually attracted to young children". In other words, pre-pubescent. Rarely in my life have I ever seen a 16 year old that would qualify as either a young child or pre-pubescent. There is a difference between a sexually maturing teenager and a young child.

As for the pornographer part, I would think the DA would have gone after his home computer(s) immediately, had there been anything more incriminating on his cell phone.

I'm not justifying or downplaying his actions, but your comments are somewhat inflammatory.

She was 15, underage, and his behavior his not normal if he did what he is accused of.

Age should'nt make a difference, it's just not normal behavior...

I agree perverion is perversion. To a point. Society has structured it's laws for hundreds if not thousands of years based upon the notion that "Chldren" need extra or special protection and at least for me this is a huge part of where my outrage comes from.

I'm 100% with you on that, not defending him at all.
Talk about One STUPID Dude! Busted 'In the Act', formally accused and now his picture is plastered in the news (newspapers, internet). What in the hell was He thinking? Highly doubt We will see him Flying an Airplane again, and rightfully so. Sorry, but I have absolutely NO SYMPATHY for him and his predicament. He obviously never learned "You reap what You sow". Jerk!

New jersey radio 101.5 just had a big discussion on the "upskirter" pilot today really bad for us today although is was kind of funny? anyone else hear it in our area?

A little off topic, however, I find it interesting how the definition of "children" changes with the times. My maternal grandfather went to work in the coal mines at age 12. A 15 year old girl would most likely been married and already had a child or two of her own 100 years ago. My grand uncles lied about their ages (16 and 17) to go to war in WWI, one died the other was gassed and machine gunned, but survived, neither was 18 at the time. Today, it would be obvious that the potential recruit was under aged, 90 years ago, not so obvious. My wife's father graduated from high school at 17 and went to work on the farm...school only went to the 11th grade. Today, in Western Europe (and particularly England), parents are made by, court rulings, to pay for their "child's" college up to age 31. Here in the US we are in the process of changing the age of an emancipated person up to 26; with the recently passed health care legislation and my guess is we will eventually move up to the age 31 like Europe.

This is in no means meant to justify the pilot's actions in PHL...I only hope he was senior to me so I can move up another number.

A U.S. Airways pilot, accused of using his cell phone to take pictures up the skirt of a 15-year-old girl, pleaded guilty today to a single count of invasion of privacy.

Joseph Pereira, 55, allegedly was caught shooting the "up skirt" photos on June 24 in Terminal C of Philadephia International Airport. Following the incident, Pereira, of Allegheny County, was suspended by the airline and resigned from resigned as girls softball coach at North Allegheny High School in Wexford, about 15 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Pereira was sentenced to one year probation and must undergo an evaluation for sex offender treatment. In addition, he is forbidden to own pornography and his computer will be monitored by police. He was also ordered to pay $2,200 to the victim, said Tasha Jamerson, spokeswoman for the District Attorney's office

Well you're right! The other side of the equation is that around the time of the depression life expectancy was 55 which is why Social security was such a fraud.

Another point to consider is who got the 12 year olds out of the mines?
We are grossly now off topic but it turns out we got a guilty plea and probation which I think I predicted.
