US AIRWAYS FA's approve CONTRACT

Just wondering... Why is it that pilots can't fly on the cabin js? I never understood why they wouldn't let mechanics or anyone else either, I think I had heard that awhile ago on the west they (mechanics) could..

So true, I agree that the whole "F/A jumpseat is sacred" thing is ludicrous. Some international carriers don't care who sits on that seat, as long as someone (non-rev) gets a ride home, and that could be your mother, OAL employee or buddy-passer. They don't distinguish over there - a ride is a ride. I flew once on a F/A seat on a European Airline from Florida to Europe using a station ID ticket. Even got to land in the F/D as that F/A seat and door were just brutally cold.

On the other hand, I must say that I don't feel sorry for AWA pilots... Never have I seen a group of pilots that gives as little of a sh!t about the F/As as the group at America West. When it came to helping out in the cabin, such as crossing seatbelts, helping with minor cleaning or even surrendering a crew meal to a starving F/A, you could always count on an east pilot. Not so with the west ones, they are just completely oblivious to thinking about the possibility that the F/As could use some help here and there. Never saw it at AWA... I have to say that AWA pilots also tend to be the cheapest bastards out there - if it's for free, and they think that they are entitled to it, they'd be the first ones jumping up and down in order to try to get it. Really cheap..... Don't feel sorry for them losing F/A JS privileges....

Well, the merger ain't gonna help. At AA, per the f/a contract, f/a jumpseats are for use by only those designated by the APFA union. Right now, that is AA and AE flight attendants with AA f/as getting priority.
If the old or new AA succeeds in selling/spinning off AE, I imagine the AE flight attendants will lose privileges altogether. They only got js on AA about 5 or 6 years ago. Before that it was strictly AA flight attendants.

Don't let anyone tell you it's an FAR issue. It's my understanding that the FAR simply says that anyone assigned to sit in any jumpseat that "has responsibility" for an emergency exit, must be instructed in the operation of that emergency exit. I.E., tell them how to open the door. (As if all the signs and graphics on the doors wouldn't do the trick.)

I know that WN allows any employee to take an available jumpseat. When I was commuting to STL from DAL, I use to see everyone from mechanics to managers sitting on the WN jumpseat.

Our union at US believes it is in our best interest to keep the j/s strictly for f/as only. Once the language is changed, it can snowball. It is also a good bargaining tool for reciprocal j/s privelages on other carriers. I'm not opposed to pilots also sharing the jumpseat but can't understand why they don't allow f/as in the flight deck. Is this an faa issue? As a f/a, if I'm safe enough to be up there to relieve them when they're taking a bathroom break, why not when I'm commuting to work or home. It's a 2 way street as far as I'm concerned.

It might have something to do with flight attendants not being 'airmen'? Not sure, but I don't know of any airline that allows fa's to ride up front.

CC needed to go and she went.

She deserved to go.

CC was the biggest impediment to a better life for F/As.

She deserved everything she got.

CC is from a bygone era.

CC is obsolete and following in the the path of pITTbull into oblivion.

They are both, thankfully, irrevelant.

The best line from CC was when she was asked " Some of your people don't know who you are."

CC's response was "Good".

Now that WAS CLT leadership.

CC needed to go.

Thankfully she is gone.

If you think 44% turnout and someone winning by 16 votes is prevailing then I am so happy for you.

If you think the new president elect, who, one unfortunate summer evening called another flight attendant a "###" and discussed him "taking it up the rear" is a better choice then I am so happy for you.

If you think it's acceptable behavior for the new president elect to threaten many flight attendants with legal action, then I am happy for you.

Throw a party. I don't care. You sound like a broken record that has some serious issues that might preclude you from any insurance policy anyone is selling.

Oh man..I just love it when my neighbors hang all their dirty laundry out in the open. lol

Take it easy you two. lol

If you think it's acceptable behavior for the new president elect to threaten many flight attendants with legal action, then I am happy for you.

Thank you for your best wishes.

Have you ever threatened anyone with legal action?

Life is much better these days - no thanks to you and CC.

You can remain the mess of a base that you are but at least you can't screw up everyone else anymore.

CC needed to go and she went.

Thank you CLT.
