US/AA merger settlement imminent!

So now Widgetus Tyrannous is questioning Crandall's ability to give an opinion without bias?

Everyone else's biases and disclosures are freely questioned, yet his secret identity and financial interests go undisclosed.

Sounds about right.

Oh, and congratulations, WT. I see from the hover-over that your fake logins have now gotten you back into a positive reputation score. Must have taken two or three fake accounts to make it happen, right?...

Still preoccupied with your definition of reputation including being right on the factual issues.

There are people who appreciate the insights I bring to the board.

Not too many other people were convinced that WN would be stopped cold in ATL, but that is the position I took and I was right.

People argued to they were blue in their face that DL couldn't make the refinery deal work but DL had a fuel cost advantage over every one of its network carrier peers in the most recent quarter and jet fuel crack spreads in the NE are trading at levels far lower than what they were before DL bought the refinery.

Not too many people have noted one financial or network related issue after another - and accurately, many times well before the events actually took place.

No one has yet to show that Crandall doesn't have significant financial interests in AMR and doesn't have a reason not to be very supportive of it.

It still doesn't change that all of the celebration regarding the merger settlement is great but there is actually an airline to run when the dust all settles - and it does do that even in Texas in Feb and March. AA has enormous strategic challenges ahead not the least of which is actually delivering anywhere close to what has been promised before the merger.

It's probably about time to start taking bets on when the first "the market has changed" memos start coming out from Dougie stating that this hub and route here, this pay raise there etc. can't be done now.

WT, most of your post detract from the conversations at hand and add nothing to the discussion. Why are you still here? Mods please make him stay on the Dleta board or ban him all togther.

It's quite a swing, isn't it?

I'm sure we'll all get to enjoy a treatise on "reputation defense" soon enough.
Enjoy it if it shows up. I'm smoke-free now...

actually, Bob Crandall's comments to which I replied ARE relevant to the discussion.

Again, can someone document for me the number of CEO's that have spoken out against the plans of the company they used to run?

It is no surprise that Crandall supports AA, and he very well might have a strong financial reason to do so.

It also doesn't change that Crandall hasn't spoken to the key strategic issues which faced or are facing which I have - or certainly never did in the timeframe I did.

Surprisingly, what I have said about AA has been validated as fact whether Crandall said anything about those issues or not.

where?

how about just evaluate my statements that I am making today at various points in the future and see if I was right or not.

Kinda like when I bet that AA would not merge within the first 18 months of declaring BK - something that proved to be true. I also said that AA's BK would not be near as short as they originally said it would be - which also has turned out to be true.

Didn't WT get busted with a fake account posting/agreeing with himself in a thread? What a buffoon ahahahahaha!

If I got "busted" and yet my reputation keeps going up, then apparently there are people who are voting up my posts now and probably were all along.

But again the whole sideshow with the post voting system is and always been a diversion from the fact that I actually do understand the industry or it would be easy to go back and prove that what I said was wrong.

I can list what I have accurately said again but the key issues are well-documented here.

With respect to the merger and Crandall, I have outlined before that the merger will result in a number of positive things for AA/US but there are significant strategic issues which have not been addressed, including the fact that new AA will only be #2 in costs behind UA, which is exactly where they have been for much of the past 10 years and exactly why carriers including B6 WN and DL have such success in growing their presence in key AA markets.

It also doesn't change that Crandall has never denied what I have just said.

Wt u might want to recheck ur green vs red posts alone on this page ur showing -12 total when votes are added up but anyway back to the in house fighting! Wt I have yet to see u post positive bout the merger. Youve been pro dl about everything and reading ur posts u give dl excellent credit yet w the merger of aa us u shoot it down. I personally was not for the merger the only thing I care bout is a paycheck every 2 weeks. With costs w the new planes comin into the fleets at both us n aa their costs will go down dp is a champ at keepin costs low and I for one would not be shocked if he gives the new aa employees contracts below ual and wn and slightly above dl n current aa

"US Airways is also planning to introduce new routes between Charlotte Douglas airport and China."

Wow, I can't wait to fly to CHINA from CLT. Guess Parker is shutting down PHL and turning it over to DL. Either this guy is totally dense, or he's got loads of $ invested in CLT, or he's completely out to lunch . Who knows though, he might be right and CLT is planned to  be the next AA World hub.

Between CLT and China?  I doubt that's going to happen.  While CLT has nice connectivity, I just don't see the new AA offering China service from CLT.  Also, I see the sentence in the source you cite, but I don't see any quotes from company executives or from official company materials, which makes me suspect of the article being "fact" vs. "opinion".

Not being familiar with the general area....Is it possible that a China route might make sense consider that both Boeing and Airbus have plants there?
