Unions Agree To Negotiate With Airline

What in the world is going on here?????????

Last night 182!!! minute hold time for Dividend Miles, 68!!!! minutes for Reissue and almost 400 calls on hold at numerous times of the evening and it wasn't just due to bad weather.

Who is running this ship and what are they trying to achieve? I have never seen so many p---ed off people, passengers, potential passengers and employees, in my whole life. No one can believe that anyone in their right mind would hold that long. Consumer Affairs phone number and address are being handed out left and right. How long does management think that the public is going to put up with this kind of treatment. We are becoming a laughing stock and the most hated airline in the industry. If you don't believe it go listen to an hour or two of calls. Unbelievable!!!!!!!

Some quotes from callers last night:
"Your service is abhorrent!"

(DM Gold) "US Airways service has gone to s---! Doesn't anyone there give a s--- anymore?

"You and everyone else there can go F--- yourselves!"

"This is absolutely absurd! I've been trying to get through to DM for DAYS!"

Along with the every other call " no wonder your airline is in trouble, I'll never use US again, I hope you do go out of business, your airline sucks, you are a joke, give me supervisor, give me a supervisor, give me a supervisor!!!!!".

How long are these people going to keep calling us? I can bet not long? Would anyone that is sane?

If the big plan is to lay US to rest, please let us die with some dignity!!!!!!!!!

To continue....

What is the CWA trying to do here? Why are they even talking about these rediculous proposals.

They are just fueling the fire. Last night agents were more PO'd than ever before, INT and PIT.

Everyone wants to know why PIT got a completely different union update letter than INT. Did they not think that PIT would find out. Everyone is up in arms. What is the CWA thinking? 35% paycut? Yea right! The concensus, is now more than ever, shut the place down!

Who are you working for CWA, us or them???????

We now have stacks of these printed out and in the drawers at the counter and gates to hand out. No more waiting to print them. When someone starts complaining about things out of our control (almost everything), website, hold times, service (or lack of) being forced to use the kiosks, policies, here is the address to write to. I'm tired of apologizing for everyone else (and I know MOST of the time its not fellow employees fault either, its the situation). I advise them I am sorry I am only me and can do what I can if I can help. If not, I will do the best I can with what I have to work with and you can vent on someone who might actually be able to change things. If I were in charge many things would already be different, but since I'm not, I'll do what I can and wish you the best.

This is proof EVERYDAY of the inept, corrupt, disguestingly indifferent manner in which this company is ran everyday. If anyone ever had a thought that management and exec's in this company had a concern for business, this will prove the fact they have no clue or concern about the day to day and on going operations. I am now totally convenced they are milking this company for every last dime they can get, and then walk away with their Golden Parachutes and screw the employees, customers, and stock holders. Allowing a business to collapse like this is an absolute CRIME.

WestCoastGuy

It is a crime!!! You are right! We are witnessing a total collapse. After the last few weeks of the fiasco in Res, everyone has come to the conclusion that we are done and there is definately no going back. This company has lost all respectability and credibility with employees and customers alike.

It is definately a "CRIME"!!!!!!!

And now for some good news... I flew to Miami this weekend from DCA in CLT and back and had the most pleasurable experience that one could of had. Everyone from check in to the flight attendants were friendly and competant. Air travel is always going to suck once and awhile it is the nature of the beast. I don't care who you fly your are going to have a bad experience. For those that are out there and still trying keep up the good work and don't let these negative a$$holes bring you down. I would rather go out fighting than to go out misserable. Best of luck.

And I would rather go out with a little dignity that be beat to death with threats and indifference from management. Our job is to give customer service and the company refuses to give us the tools needed to do that. We are like a fish out of water, floundering on the sand, gasping for air.

The AFA MEC expressed to Lakefield that we need more folks at the ticket counters and res. We are losing our customer base because of lack of service.

You have to get the customers to write in. That is the only way for change. Lakefield stated that a study that was done asking customers what is more important, ...obtaining the cheapest fare OR better customer service with more personnel. He said the customer said "cheaper fares". Yea, I wonder what these customers say when there is a cancellation and their lined up like cattle with two agents to help reconnects and reservations with busy signals.

I find this hard to believe and would like to see that study.

We are losing our customer base, and supporting these executives to stay in business just to keep their butts employed and happy with their pay.

If that's what the study was commissioned to ask, then the deck was loaded.

Why not find out the relative elasticity of the ticket and the service? The customer won't pay an extra $500 just so their hold times go down 20 minutes. Few people's time is worth $1,500/hour. OTOH, I'm sure most would pay an extra $5 to skip long lines across the board.

One or more of the following must be true:
  • the questions weren't conveyed to you accurately
  • the person who wrote the questions is incompetent
  • the questions were intentionally crafted to give the predetermined answer
Which it is, I don't know. I'm sure many here would point to the last bullet...

Mweiss,

The very reason why it was brought up was for the mere fact that U needs to raise fares by $5 or $10 just to even provide better service and hire a few extra folks to ensure the customer's needs are met in all conditions. An airline ayalyst reported in a paper article that there is 5% less capacity out there for the customer to compete for...remember?

Hell, why not either provide more capacity OR raise the fare a little.

When your flying rarely, things run smooth. You have weather delays, mechanicals, cancellations, lost ticket, lluggage problems etc...at least folks could feel more comfortable knowing someone will help them through the process if they need to. Not everyone is walking around with computers to rebook themselves on oversold flights or look for connections on all other airlines.

Of course. You're missing the point. Did they ask "are you willing to pay $5 more to reduce your wait by 20 minutes" or did they ask "are low fares more important than short lines?" The two questions look similar, but will get vastly different results from the same people.
