The majority of my friends here want it to survive and I believe the majority of all the employees will do whatever it take to survive."

USA320Pilot comments: I agree.

i'd like for this airline to survive because i have a special needs son (2 yrs old) to take care of but i also dont believe any employees should have to take a pay cut down to 13.00 an hr as suggested by this inept mgmt. if they want to restructure the airline, get rid of jerry glass, steve rader and a few others that are helping to kill this airline.

Look at it this way.

This will haunt them on their resumes.

I hear ya, robbed. I am willing to take (another) cut if that is what it takes. But $13.00 TOS is too extreme; just ask the mainline express folks. Even A320 pilot wrote awhile back that the thought the ME group's sacrifice was excessive. I have a medical condition that make it imparative that I have health insurance, just as with you son's situation. .

IIRC, ALPA has proposed a 12.5% cut for its group. While applying the same level of cut to a much lower paid group such CWA is regressive it would be bearable for most. (The ME group would have to be left out of this cut). It would of course have to be tied to profit sharing in case we ever make money again.

And as has been pointed out often, unless the nonlabor costs are brought down, the sacrifice will be for naught.

Not as much as you think. The business community marvels that US is still here. That fact will enhance their status. Plus most management hate unions anyway. They will land on their feet while many of you will end up out on your assets.

Even if you're right my belief system allows me the satisfaction that they will indeed reap what they sowed.

I too can relate to medical problems and fully understanding your plight and sympathize. It's now coming to the point that employees that have major health issues in their families are better off at a wal*mart type business that has good medical coverage considering how bad the healthcare coverage already is at U only to become beyond reasonable.

From what I have read so far on this particular topic there's a select few begging almost pleading that all labor groups do the right thing and give whatever is necessary to help U get back on its feet.

What these people don't understand is WE are very small cogs in a very large wheel and U's fate has already been determined. All the begging and pleading going on right now will only show management how desperate a certain few individuals are and feed their (managements) ego's.

As I have said before I cannot survive on 13.10 per hour so I will try to re invent my self what ever that means , as for leaving so the ones left behind can work for slave wages FORGET IT……..I want my unemployment and some education and I think I deserve that after 25 years.

Don’t ask me to walk away so U can survive…..We all have a right to survive

EXACTLY! I was lambasted this morning for saying exactly this in a less than nice tone....

The employees must decide whether they want to continue to work in the airline industry, because if they cannot work for Airways under the proposed contracts, they certainly won't be working for anyone else. Since our proposals are based on what the LCCs are paying.

Hawk explain this to me. Is LUV a low cost? Did you know the mechanics will be at $40 in the coming years and are already at $36.50. Did you know that your team is training mechanics that are jumping ship and going to jetblue in droves at just a little less money and way more, obviously, security. Other carries are reaping U’s training of mechanics as well, thank you Hawk for the help.

There is a world outside of U which will provide a means to the U employees.

We have the same people in charge that failed to honor the last contracts, please explain how a rational thinking person can possibly trust anything they say at this point? Why would they? If the end is near, and it is, why oh why would anyone give only to have even less when it's over?

I am afraid the HAWK appearances of the past have worn thin and no longer have the impact on the necessary majority of readers, it’s too little way too late Hawk and you of all people know this since you’ve been around the block. You are about to see history repeat itself.

Oh puhleeze. Aside from the cherry-picking nature of the contract proposals, your comment is still missing the point.

If they believed that the cuts would return US to prosperity, I suspect they'd take it. You can't have a history of bait and switch and expect the union employees to believe it when you say "no, really, we mean it this time."

If you have trouble understanding what I'm saying, perhaps you should read this.

Pay us the most famous and succesful LCC's wages which is the airline you USE to compare us too, until you found out Southwest is the highest paid in the whole airline industry and the most % of unionized employees.
