Union to amp up talks after dire report

"Success in these negotiations will require all engaged parties to throw away the cookbook-style of negotiating and embrace an aggressive, creative, thinking-outside-the-box approach," William Pollock, the leader of the pilots' negotiating team, said in a recent letter to the rank and file.

Complete Story

This is not possible with the current management that is in place. The only box they are thinking in is their own. They are like the big bully at the playground.

Basically it boils down to Capitulate or Liquidate.

If you're over 50 in a job that can easily be replaced off the street both choices really suck. Advice? Don't have any, wouldn't be appreciated anyway.

You are correct Bob. I am afraid anger, resentment, and bitterness will bring us to our knees. I really hate what is happening and do want to do what I can for us to survive. Unfortunately nothing can be said to those that are determined to say no more. They can drap their anger around history, facts, opinions, and God, but the harsh reality is indeed capitulate or liquidate. I hope all those outspoken folk have their back ups. Oh well, it was a good ride.

Well well...I agree with both here, Bob and First this time around, but must say First that your reference in the future tense is incorrect because it is now in the past tense and why I say let it die. The spirit is gone, there is no heart left, people are empty shells, and the ones left are the ones hoping for a miracle, and most being in denial at that.

Saying these facts does NOT make me bitter, angry or anything, I am simply stating facts, facts that most people don't want to accept.

The few bitter and angry posters in this forum do not represent the majority of the rank-and-file members. Furthermore, there is a plan where as Bronner said no single work group will prevent the restructuring plan.

The airline can and will operate if one employee group does not participate. Bronner knows what he is talking about when he said, "with or without employees."

Everybody has a choice here.

You have not a clue the views or opinions of the majority of the rank-and-file members at usairways. But your well aware that they may be a part in your personal empire crumbling, and you have no control over it. That is why you will stop at nothing to try to get everyone to roll over. You have the most to lose and I understand that, but count me and the majority out to subsidize your salary.

I post on this forum to provide information and to help those people who are irrational and incapable of thinking clearly due to their thought process obscured by anger, fear, and emotion. In addition, my comments are directed at the lurker who represents the silent majority.

In regard to any personal motive, I am likely more financially secure and ready for a complete cessation of operations than most or maybe any poster on this board, so the fear argument does not hold water.

Do I want US Airways to survive and do I care about the company? Absolutely, but I suggest my portfolio and ability to move on can sustain the loss of this job more than the “naysayersâ€￾, therefore, the argument that my motivation is to keep my job does not hold water.

Hogwash, you are a scared man, otherwise why would you be obsessed with the IAM?

Why do you post false information and when proved wrong you can't admit it?

We all see what you are and what you are really about.

Let the other unions decide for themselves, that is their right. No one is telling ALPA how to conduct their business, you should to the same.

I fell outa my chair in laughter reading that one. You need help. My time to rebutt your senseless jiberish is over for now, I have more important things to do than battle you, but I'm sure others will bring your misinformation to light.

CAPT,

You need a drug test. You are so confident in your opinions and facts that you have become oblivious to your surroundings.

I invite you to come to the CLT-Base MTC hangar and survey the inmates. You better carry a chair with you because after hearing the thoughts of the majority you will most likely need a chair.

You have become biased in your own "Clear thinking." Allow me to point out to you that when someone continually prevaricates, eventually he himself will begin to believe his own lies.

Know anyone like that <_< ???

E-Tron, I know you and I have not seen eye to eye on a lot of issues, but you are dead on 1000% in your post!

I've been here 19 years and don't like what is happening at all, however, I like flying and I would like to finish my career with the airline. It would be tough to start over at 42 and earn half what we can earn here.

We have no control over the realities of the market, if we don't take care of these problems the market will take care of them for us, we will be gone! My family has been in the textiles business for over 60 years and we have seen first hand what happens when you don't adapt to the market realities. Fortunatley we have been able to change and are changing all the time to survive, most have not.

I knew what the airline biz was all about when I got into it and that's why I have another business (not textiles) and prepared for life without the airline. I would never be so selfish that I would want to see the company fail just because I didn't like what was happening in this industry. Come on guys, if you don't want US Airways to survive then you don't need it anyway so move on, let the ones that need this company to support there families negotiate the best they can for there group and get on with life, if they don't like the way it turns out then they can leave. The majority of my friends here want it to survive and I believe the majority of all the employees will do whatever it take to survive.
