Two US Airways Aircraft bump wingtips in STL

Lets see what is wrong with this situation in STL. ATS underbid Piedmont and took the ramp over in STL. Prior to ATS taking over in May 2010, EN was over 3 years with no AC DAMAGE. Actually the last damage was a faulty slide that the STATION Manager blamed on EN. Thank GOD she resigned and left US AIRWAYS.

ATS wins US Airways ramp handling contract in St. Louis
Airport Terminal Services (ATS) is pleased to announce that on May 4th, 2010 it will commence ramp handling services on behalf of US Airways at Lambert – St. Louis International Airport (STL).

At more than 100 weekly departures from STL, US Airways operates a mix of mainline and US Airways Express flights with a substantial presence at STL.
Sally Leible, President of ATS, commented: “Our expanded relationship with US Airways is very exciting; but even more so given this is our home, our backyard! “.

AND YOU SURE DO GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR !!!!!!!

Whle the idea of outsourcing sickens everyone, what does that have to do with the mainline aircraft running into the other aircraft....The aircraft was taxiing to the pad when it clipped the other..Surely the groundhandler was not moving the aircraft to the pad....LINK

It is my understanding that they were in the pad where they were being marshalled into position by ground personel. You have to assume they are looking at your wingtips as they are marshalling you in.

STL does not taxi to the pad to deice. It is done at the gate with the AC just pushed back about 20-30 feet. STL Airport Authority is very picky on how deicing is done at their airport. Drainage from the ramp goes to a creek and due to the deicing fluid used the airport has put in valves they have to close to hold the deicing fluid until the deiciing event is done for the day. Then STL Airport Authority pumps out the used deicing fluid they captured and has it disposted of. So when these two AC clipped each other they were under the direction of ground personnel at STL which happen to be ATS.
