Sorry to nit-pick, but can flight attendants stop making "curtains" out of napkins to seperate the classes? This is SO TACKY. So not world class, so not Star Alliance, so not airline-that-wants-to-be-around. Management makes the airline look like a third world carrier, but lets not stoop ourselves. Can we try to look dignified please....?

The company is in the final testing phase for a new type of cabin divider. I have no idea what it is but.....I hope it's not Theater Rope. I went to London and I saw this napkin crap......TACKY but matches our plastic picnic motif.

I think Continental uses a theater rope type of set-up... I wonder what other options there are? Maybe those clear strips like at the butcher? Some hippie beads?

In all seriousness, I'm guessing the requirement is that people can see into the other cabins for security reasons, but for service reasons it should be divided, and best case, not let people see/hear whats going on in the other cabin. Of course it also can't block egress for an emergency, even during flight. Its interesting-I wonder what they'll come up with.

And again, PLEASE stop with the napkin chain.

LOL at the plastic picnic motif...

On my flight to FCO on 9/2/03 they put 2 blankets up the second we hit 10,000 and basically told those of us in the forward Y section not to cross into Envoy no matter what.

The TSA banned the curtains, what they are doing with the blankets or napkins might be a security violation.

Blankets? That one I haven't seen. I used to build forts out of blankets and pillows when I was a kid. Here we have adults (mostly senior citizens to be honest  ) doing it on our premiere service.

Premier service? Envoy is a total JOKE since Dave came here. The service is just NOT what it is supposed to be.....barely business class.

usairboy did you apply with virgin by any chance? and are you from portugal. your name callsign sounds familiar.

Curtains out Napkins ???? NICE !!! Haven't seen that yet...then again everywhere I fly these days it's an RJ !!!! Gosh you might expect That on a MESA FLIGHT !!!

Napkins, Blankets and Theater Rope.... I know when they took away the Curtains..I hated it... I was always a little Anal about having that thing shut throughout my First Class Service... But...Comeon People... Lets leave the "TACKY-NESS" Behind.

Um... etops1, you should probably PM USAirBoy330 rather than ask who he is on the public message board.

Just did a rt Madrid flight and managed to get Envoy both ways. The crew didnt do any barrier either way and you could see into the other cabin. They made announcements about facilities being in the Envoy cabin are for Envoy customers and on the return the captain even mentioned that for security reasons you must use the facilities in your cabin and not congregate near the restrooms. Didnt see anyone slipping into the other cabin to go. On a flight recently to/from London, the crew did do the blanket rope thing, but one F/A kept getting caught in it and I was waiting for her to trip and fall. It was tacky. I dont really see a need to divide the cabins anyway as long as the announcement about separate facilities is made and if its being constantly abused, then maybe making another announcement. Otherwise, the service isnt that different anymore that you have to hide that FC is getting another drink while coach isnt. I personally dont see it as that big a deal.

BTW- The two flights this past week in Envoy were excellent and the best of the last 6 or 8 trips I've had up there. The service was good and the crews actually smiling and cheery for a change. Thanks guys on 12 1/16 and 11 1/20.

Cut up a cargo net to fit the door size, and attach it to the door frame with magnetic clips. The magnetic fasteners would not be a barrier to emergency egress.

It wouldn't block the view, but would be an effective reminder for folks to stay in the class of service that they paid for.

And it would be WAAAAAY tackier than the theater rope...again in keeping with USAirways grand tradition of "cool northern efficiency."
