The UA coach video on it's big birds beats the 767 J video, and anything dynamic and/or multichannel beats the movie on the 767. If US would spend a few bucks on things like this (for perhaps the total cost of one EMB-170), you would see an uptick in both leisure bookings and repeat biz (for instance, I'll take PIT-ORD on UA over US if the prices are similar so I can enjoy Channel 9 during the descent and approach).ITRADE said:2) IFE is available on many US flights. So too is the magazine. US has video in J class for its big birds as well. The only knock here is that US, nor any other U.S. based carrier, does not have Channel 9 which is quite addictive.
I'm seriously curious as to which US flights still have audio. I've been out of the country lots this year, but even my transcons on U have been lacking anything but movie audio for months.
I agree that Channel 9 is great, except when you have the occasional egomanianc that won't turn it on, even if politely asked (it annoys me to absolutely no end that if I'm puttering along under the flight in my trusty 152, I can monitor ATC and the like, but not when the PIC has a posterior insect problem about it when I'm sitting in the back of the #@!%# airplane). Every once in awhile (particularly transatlantic or transcon on UA--usually the redeyes) you get a Captain and/or FO who will add commentary over Channel 9. Love it.
