The company is touting its three year anniversary of this "successful merger." If this is supposed to be one big happy airline, then why does the company still have two separate employee websites? When will they ever stop using the terms West and East Metal? When will they start treating ALL employees equally? I'm sure there are plenty more examples. The management team should be very embarrassed, certainly not proud, of their "merger" so far.

Actually...... 1 employee website thehub.usairways.com transitioning to the new wings.usairways.com..... only employee groups that are seperate are f/a's and pilots which leaves the term east and west metal, which I have a feeling will dissolve within a year.

Wow, let's celebrate this !! I propose that on the eve of the anniversary of this merger, at Midnight Eastern Time (seniority, bwords, sorry) let's all simultaneously flush the nearest toilet to commemorate this match made in heaven.

Amen.

I am sorry to say this, but if things keep going the way they are going at US Airways today, the whole thing might disappear within the year.

There is no excuse for there to still be such divisions within the company. The hatred, anger and frustration which exists in many areas of this company is at best unhealthy, and at worst could cost thousands of people their jobs.

Again to be clear, I do NOT place any blame for this on the front line employees, but the responsibility is squarely upon management for failing to plan adequately for this merger and take care of labor integration issues BEFORE the merger closed.

Then again, that's the way they do everything. Shoot first and aim later.

I truly wish you all the very best, but based on the current management's poor treatment of both employees and customers, it ain't looking good.....

you guys have been saying that foreverrrrr so if it ever does happen, like twenty years from now after the virus has mutated a few more times, it doesnt count when you said told you so.

Too bad I’m not back east right now. I could go down to the Ohio River and see if it rises an inch or two at 12:15.

Ah, the good old days, when Parker was going to get the right people on the bus.

Who knew the driver was impaired?

The death of USAir(ways) has been announced at least twice annually since the mid-1990's. Other carriers have even based their planning on the absence of this carrier.

Funny thing, though, WE'RE STILL HERE!

Why? The best, most professional, most experienced front line employees in the industry that refuse to go gently into that good night! (It is certainly not due to any effective management. We're still here DESPITE some of the worst management in the history of commercial aviation.)

That being said, as far as 99% of the traveling public is concerned, it is one airline and that is why the company can "celebrate" the third anniversary of the merger.

The only people aware of the internal divisions are those involved, those who have personal contact with those involved, and that minuscule portion of the traveling public that is obsessed with all things airline (and spend way too much time on this forum.) I would bet that even front line employees who are somewhat removed from actual flight operations (e.g. reservation agents, some of whom have never even been to an airport, let alone flown on a plane) are blissfully unaware that we are in many ways still two separate carriers.

DW,

In the beginning he had me fooled as well. I actually said some nice things about him in the Wall Street Journal when the merger was announced......

Admittedly I was wrong........

i don't know what your all bitching about ... i'm happy we merged , as are most of my co workers , if we here on the west were still AWA we'd be DOA by now , and the same can most likely be said for the old us airways .... we're ordering our new us airways uniforms and i'm happy to say i can't wait to wear mine , they look good ...

Here's to a sucessfull merger (for the most part )

Very good, LCC.......

Freedom, go back and have some more kool aid. You are right that neither company would have survived on its own, but even a blind man can see this merger has been anything but successful...except at ticking off both customers and employees....

Well it's finally running smoother atleast... with major hurdles behind things are getting better.... doesn't happen overnight... I think us airways will be around awhile.
