The End Of US Airways

USAirways died when they merged with America West, now it's just the name going away. This has been nothing but America West in drag. US was an awesome company that had the best employees, however thanks to Parker that is a thing of the past. I'm glad the US name will be gone, best kept to a good memory. I only hope he doesn't ruin another airline, but we've seen his work......not hopeful that this will be any different. Hopefully I'm wrong.

The sky fell today and Chicken Little lost his head! Now all of you US haters can walk on by, nothing to see here anymore.

The USAirways I knew ceased to exist about two weeks after 9/11. So RIP USAirways...now we have the answer to the question. Deregulation finally played out.

I just saw the US/AA mariage commercial on TV. They aren't waisting any time spreading the word. They sure make a pretty couple.

After a 26 year ride of uncertinty we now have a sense of security. I have been furloughed twice had my pay and benefits slashed beyond recognition. But Today I'm looking forward to a bright future! The USair I new died in the last BK.

I have to give credit to Parker. He fought an uphill battle and won!

Good Bye USairways
would be so certain of the security, ask the twa people about that from over 20,000 to a couple of thousand

I have to disagree with you here. Having grown up on the east coast I must say US Air was the most hated airline around.

US Airways should have died but Parker chose to resurrect it. I wish it had died before AWA bought it but things are what they are. The world will be a better place with this brand gone and forgotten.

"I only hope he doesn't ruin another airline, but we've seen his work......" Agreed in full...unfortunately. Best wishes to all concerned.

I stand by my comment-of course the US employees will get a raise, which I am sure you're all happy about. But Parker has demonstrated over the years that employees and customers are liabilities rather than assets. US currently has industry low wages for most workgroups, and has led the way with ancillary revenue over the past few years. While they didn't pioneer baggage fees, they did lead the way on other fees, including trying to charge for water and soda, which had to be reversed after an outcry.

The profits US has enjoyed will more or less evaporate when wages catch up to industry standards, and the product on the US side has to be upgraded to match the AA side. I remember a Town Hall meeting Parker held at INT, where, when asked to comment on policy changes for Chairmans' members, he said, "why would we give chairmans' members ANY breaks. We should be charging them for the perks they now get for free on cheap fares." Nice way to engender customer loyalty.

I wish the folks at AA and US all the best, I just do not think ANYONE is going to benefit in the end except for stakeholders and Parker and his crew...

Well said and summed up Art. I only wish I could reasonably argue with any portion of your post.

It is a sad day for Art & WT what will they complain about now?

Perhaps clueless little cubicle fleas like yourself, that have no understanding of either the product or the customer? ;) Well..assuming you're even tragically still employed a year from now.

Dougie WILL take his STRICK 'marching orders' from the AMR-BOD's !

I see Doug and AMR creating two MONSTERS that if they're Not Careful can cause them a couple of HUGE headaches. That being a very strong Pilot and F/A group.
(I feel badly for the US AMT's, because of the SPINELESS AA Amt's in Tulsa.) (BUT if AMFA can get in and control it all, well that could be bad-headache # 3 for Dougie et al. )

Where we go ONE,......We go ALL !!!!!!!!!!!

My future just got a little cloudy...

But, I'm an optimist...

Your future is a lot less cloudy than its been since November 2011. I said back then that none of the great pontificators in this forum knew what would happen in the AA Chapter 11 filing. Well, now we know. And those of us who'll be part of the New American will all be better off and our futures a lot less cloudy.

Art, you are only guessing if you know how Parker will run new company. The world has changed and we all have taken hits to keep airlines in the sky. You do realize AA lost 12Billion since 2001' don't you?. Every airline was made up of different abilities to make money. Parker did what he had to do. If you don't like his new policies, fly on an airline that you like their policies better. Consumer choice, but don't come on here and say its a bad day for employees and customers. I think it's mostly a good day for all employees and I'm optimistic about our future.

Hence, McKaskill/Bond
have you actually read mckaskill/bond? its not what you think. i thought it meant dove telling but it dont. basically its says if a agreement cant be reach on seniority it will go to a arbitraitor. the same thing that the twu employees had to go thru.

Art, I know you have not been happy with USAirways for quite some time. After the merger and integration, I do hope that you will atleast give us a chance. And no folks, no kool aid here. 34 year Allegheny/Usair/Usairways employee here untainted by the PHX heat. I am hoping that we we can come together, AA and US and form a company that we can be proud of and win some of our lost customers back.

I applaud the departure of US Airways and it's offspring known as USAPA. Formed to cheat pilots it claimed to represent. I applaud the merger and having a bargaining agent rather than an agent of extortion.

I'm also happy to see ALPA will not return so the cry babies will have nothing to throw a tantrum about.
