The Apfa Is Worthless..................

Ditto on the merging of Domestic and International operations, but it will take some work due to different duty limitations etc. inherent in the contract. There need to be protections built in to keep the 30 in 7 option for those who continue to fly Domestic, as well as strict adherence to the 13-15 hour limitation currently in force on the Domestic operation.

I am all for this, and wanted to post it, however much I dislike the title of this thread. By saying the APFA is worthless, we, as AA flight attendants, are saying we are worthless. While those in leadership roles may seem to hold the upper hand, do not forget that Base Chair elections are coming us. I, personally, am prepared to work to vote out of office any base chair who supported that Restructuring fiasco. There were precious few chairs on the APFA Board (DCA, LAX, SFO, IOR, I think) who said NO to the destruction of our contract.

It really isn't as difficult as it may seem on the surface. It was imposed on us at TWA by Icahn in 1986, and although we were almost 100% against it at the time, I don't know anyone who was still against it after a few years.

A single bid package was published with lines either all international or all domestic. We still had different duty limits and legal rest, but it didn't cause much of a problem. If you flew a domestic trip, domestic regs applied; the same for international. We had the option of waving our 24 hrs international rest if we chose. You could fly Paris or Rome and pick up a quick SFO overnight if you wanted to make some extra bucks. The flexibility was really nice. At the end of the month your pay would be computed based on what percent of which operation you flew and prorated; ie, 70% int and 30% dom your pay would fall appropriately in between.

From what I understand AA isn't too interested in doing this because of the cost of training everyone. At TWA that wasn't a problem since everybody was given int training initially and int was a very high percentage of our total at one time.

I wouldn't hold my breath, but I think it would be a good change at AA and one I think people would come to like, but I don't expect to see it any time soon.

As far as the title of the thread.......................Got you alls attention "
while the name of the thread may be distasteful, it is the sentiment of the flight attendants.
