Fred's over NMB taking care of business ala IBT style....Fred is hiding so the IAM doesn't beat him up
no next week...so he is filing paperwork and dealing with people faily instead of making threats and busting heads
It's doubtful that an election would end up in non-union status--even if 50%+1 don't vote. If that happens, the NMB would likely keep IAM as the union.
I recently took a labr relations class at ERAU, and my instructor says it's unlikely there would be no union, especially since the workgroup involved is so large.
The IBT also says it's unlikely--just because the IAM says it will happen (and just because it might have happened in the past)--doeesn't make it true!
I personally don't care what happens ..proudly a non-union employee here. I was just pointing out facts.I'd like to know what you guys are smoikin' cause you are livin' in a dream state if you think getting anything less then 50%+1 will result in you will still having union representation.
Like I've said before, if you think the Teamsters are so great, then why are there only 850 US West mechanics, and 2500 East Mechanics?
It's because of the scope language in the IAM contract that is protecting the heavy maint. on the Airbus and small Boeings.
No Union=No Scope protection=many lay-offs
Good Luck, you are gonna need it!

Just because the NMB decertified a union in those situations, doesn't mean they will in this situation. I'm going to believe my textbook and instructor more than I would belive you and the IAM.Wrong,
It just happend at Piedmont after the Alleghenay merger, you know that as I posted last week after you said the samething.
The stock clerks at Piedmont were IAM the ones at Allegheny were ibt, the ibt forced an election 50%+1 was not achieved now they are non-union with no contract.
Samething happened when the ibt failed to get to ramp to vote 50%+1 after the US/PI merger, they were non-union with no contract.
The RLA and NMB is very clear, if 50%+1 fail to vote the union is decertified.
Stop posting false information.
your sacred instructor was only making an ASSUMPTION.of course he told you so and of course he isn't working in the government sector but for a nickle and dime school or university...so i'd accept his non policy making view as to what really comes from the US gov't.Just because the NMB decertified a union in those situations, doesn't mean they will in this situation. I'm going to believe my textbook and instructor more than I would belive you and the IAM.
But, like I said, I really dont care either way what happens.
More like the Meowing Machinists if you ask me! Not that you did
deleted by moderatorBob,
That is all fine and dandy but this is an election under the RLA and the NMB, not the NLRA and NLRB.
