Teamsters at the GOP Convention

What does anything in the last two pages have to do with the IBT sitting on the sideline in the election?

IBT is finally realizing that while the Democrats aren't helping them, the GOP won't do any better. The GOP talks a good talk, but when they talk about bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US, they are not jobs that the IBT has been used to in the past. In the meantime, the proposed 100% tariffs on imported goods to motivate companies to bring production back to the US will only serve to double the cost for the consumer. But not to worry, they will find some way to blame Biden and the Democrats.

Putting all your eggs in one basket has never been a wise strategy. And at one time the Democrats were the Republicans and the Republicans were the Democrats. That shift “may” be happening again?

Now let’s see if O’Brien is given a slot to speak at the Democratic convention or if the Party only goes with those who’ve already pledged their fealty?

Didn't he kind of do that very thing here?

No he did not. He has asked to speak at the Democratic National Convention as well. Do you know the meaning of the word “Bipartisan”?

The Democrats saved their pensions.

Now, there's a slim chance the UAW might not endorse Harris. They endorsed Biden because he walked their picket line. Harris didn't.

“We’re not going to rush in and just throw it out there," Fair said. "We want to have fruitful discussions when we meet [with Harris’s team]. And I think it’s important we do that. We owe that to them,” Fain told MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, former Biden press secretary.

IBT Pres. Sean O'Brien just wrapped up addressing the RNC in Milwaukee, which is the first time they've appeared on that stage, and he was the last speaker of the night, which is usually a fairly significant slot. Trump and Vance were in the audience, and O'Brien gave glowing praise to both along with Hawley and others.

Not the most conventional speech and it might have been a bit uncomfortable for a few, but it's a pretty big acknowledgement by both the GOP and the IBT that union workers are indeed shifting to the right.

His message to politicians on both sides: "What are you doing to help the American worker?" was met with thundering applause...

The IBT has already hinted they might not endorse Biden. I wouldn't expect that they'll endorse the GOP, but if they sit on the sidelines, that's a huge shift in itself.
No UNION should be endorsing a politician. Just another level of corruption. Democrats have been turning UNION dues into political donations for YEARS (and denying it.....). Public sector UNIONS are even worse.

I would call a historic tax cut where businesses bought back stock instead of raising employee pay, upgrading facilities or hiring more people, pretty darn business friendly. But how easily the suckers are bought off...the companies, flush with cash, gave them a $1,000 bonus. No significant pay increases and that was a one time bonus..

Should Trump succeed in a 100% tariff on foreign made products...even products made by American companies, he will hurt everybody, including the unions. Because a tariff is a tax and we all know that businesses don't pay taxes - consumers do.
So you what, want government to force corporations to spend money in a "sanctioned" way? Sounds pretty commie red to me. That sounds like some China BS.

Speaking of being pushed to the absolute bottom of the party. Sadly there is a very good chance that the Democrats have done such a good job of rescuing the GOP that we may have a president and both houses of Congress along with the Supreme Court. When Roe v Wade was overturned, many on both sides were shocked when red states such as Kansas held a vote on abortion and voted overwhelmingly to keep it legal. Despite that, Kansas GOP lawmakers are trying their hardest to ban it and the national GOP is hoping for a national ban. So if you are a conservative that believes in the old conservative value that less government is better, be ready for them to ramrod a national abortion ban thru....and likely get it. Despite what the people actually want.
As a conservative I would never support that. I think leaving it to the states is the answer.

I don't think the government should be making medical decisions.. As it is, Republicans want to ban abortion, which will bring hundreds of thousands of unwanted kids into the world. At the same time, they want to cut welfare to those moochers. And proposed solutions for THAT are that women who can't afford an accidental pregnancy should be required to carry it and give it up for adoption.

That's opening a door to government control of your life. That, IMHO is worse that a nuclear war.
An abortion of convenience is not a "medical decision" any more than a porn star getting fake t*ts.

You simply are 1000% wrong. It is totally illegal to take union dues and donate them a political candidate or a party.

The only thing they are allowed to is Get Out To Vote Programs.

You do know under the Landrum-Griffith Act. Every penny a union spends is documented and file on the LM-2 with the Department of Labor.

Federal Elections Act of 1971 made it illegal for union dues to be donated to political parties, candidates, and campaigns

Political action committees

Main article: Political action committee
The Federal Election Campaign Act also "provided the basic legislative framework for separate segregated funds," more commonly known as political action committees. Although the law prohibits corporations and unions from making direct contributions to federal candidates, it allows a group to "establish, operate and solicit voluntary contributions for the organization's" political action committee. These funds can then in turn be used in federal elections“
