D-day was a year ago. It's too little, too late. Siegel's incompetence squandered whatever hope U had.
Personally, I think it goes back to WolfGang's incompetence, but that might just be symantics.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

If this guy comes in and shows some ability to lead and take advantage of the tools he's already been given by labor, it might help him return to labor to ask for more.
I agree. *IF* he can actually present a plan that the employees think even MIGHT work, I am guessing that the employees will at least consider it. Siegel didn't have a plan (or if he dad one, it wasn't shared with the employees)...and the employees were not willing to just give more without one. Siegel was not one that the employees believed in. It was a matter of "no trust". IMO the determining factor is going to be "THE PLAN". Present us with a plan.
.....
We have just been given a glimmer of "hope". The employees, imo, want this company to survive!

This just in! USAirways former CEO David Seigle joins up with Hawian Airlines and former American Airlines CEO Don Carty! Evidently they intend to change the way the world feels about labor unions and show wall street that they can become the dynamic duo of the airline industry!

More to come!

Duna Duna Duna Duna Duna Duna Duna Duna!!!!!!!!!
Who was that masked man?

The plan is going to be the same plan as Dave laid out before...the new guy will ask the unions to make the same concessions.

I wonder what his pay package is...

Those who wanted Dave gone will regret the day he left . Now the unions more than ever will give back. Were done as far as i can see. We will sell no doubt. If bronner had any intention on keeping this airline intact as it is he wouldve gotton someone else other than a 60 yo retired man . Bronner doesnt want to be here , this is just a tide over, for those of you who are the anti dave, open your wallets cuz you r gonna give...

It's great news. Unfortunately, I think it may be too late. Wolf and Gangwal screwed things up too bad. At least one a$$clown is gone.

From the <under>employment line.....it's lots of fun when you get the bone from US Air.

If anything, tomorrow will feel like a new day for everyone. Alot of anger went out the door with Siegel. Its time for everyone to prioritize, figure out what they are and are not willing to do for the company. Hopefully everyone can settle on a picture of a US Airways of the future and figure out how to achieve it.

So will there be a press conference or something with Lakefield, when does everyone get to hear from him, his views, his visions, his plan? Lets just hope he has one and its not a crap one.

The overall plan of the BOD has not changed.

USAIR is slated to be COMAIR of United.

Seagull's departure merely releases some of the steam and is designed to diminish the resolve of the unions that are oposed to the change.

Think of it this way. The frog in the hot water started to notice that the water is getting hot so they turned the heat down a degree but have already started to raise it again slowly.

Don't play into it.
I think you may be right. <_<

I'd love to agree with you but it if you still have the same VP team in place telling you that this won't work and that isn't possible, then nothing has really changed. Do we have time to allow Mr Lakefield to replace or remove VP's? In my eyes, this is make it or break it time and we have just one shot left. I hate to be skeptical, but could this be just a cosmetic change to appease the union leaders or will he really bring substantial change to the table? Time will tell.....
MMW: That certainlly makes alot of sense. Thank YOU.

advice for the new guy....

Tell the truth, and follow thru on it.

example: Dave S.- i am here for the long term, i am not a cut and run guy, i am giving up Millions to stay here.
reality. he's taking the money and running. what else did he lie directly about to the employees. not hard to see why they lost faith in him.

even if dave had THE answer...nobody would have believed him he lost crediblity which translates into the ability to manage.

OK to the employees... you got what you wanted.... lets turn the company around and fast. Time is the biggest enemy here.

The new water boy of the BOD is part of the plan.

If you guys buy one more promise from the new BOD water boy, without waiting to see him perform with the opportunities that he already has in place (that neither Wolf nor Seagull took advantage of) then you are truly gullible and should not be entrusted with the care and safe operation of an airplane.

If you guys don’t have the cajones to require the new water boy to increase aircraft utilization, and fix the 200+ grievances immediately then nothing will change and MDA will effectively replace USAIR. Count on it.
Right on!!!!! this is not necessarily the FIX IT MAN!!!

Finally! Now we need the rest of the Union Busters to follow!

This was the only move U after all the damage Siegel has done to this airline.

It is no secret that the U employees are the best in the industry they just need a “leaderâ€￾ they can trust enough to follow.

Enter Bruce Lakefield. At first blush he appears to be honest, straightforward and eager for U to succeed.

Mr. Lakefield a 1967 graduate of the United States Naval Academy (Annapolis). Mr. Lakefield has something Siegel will never have and that something is exactly what U needs now. Mr. Lakefield has a background and education founded on honesty and honor. As a USNA grad he also has a background in strategy. If this guy tells us he has “a planâ€￾ he may actually have one.

Let’s give Mr. Lake field a chance. Let’s show him that we are the best at what we do while we help him learn what a great company US Airways is and what we are all about.
