Serious Discussion About The New Plan

Just one more point…

Again, for those who are angry and would rather see the company “burn to the groundâ€￾ instead of accepting an America West type of contract, I believe Dave Siegel made a valid point during his webcast. He went so far as to encourage employees to leave the company if new work contracts aren't agreeable, rather than to fight the change. "If it doesn't work, I'd encourage you to support the change, and then go on and find something else," he said. "It's better to have a job when you're trying to find another job."

Moreover, even if a person loses their job over the new labor accords they will be better off if the company survives. With the company in operation a furloughed employee would receive severance pay, unemployment, COBRA medical insurance, recall rights, pass privileges, MDA/J4J opportunities (some employees), and recall rights.

But if US Airways fragments or liquidates what do furloughees receive? Nothing except unemployment and possibly other government aid. After all the emotion and chest pounding, even if there are layoffs, the person who leaves active employment is better off with a successful “Transformation Planâ€￾ that a failed company.

USA320,

And just how many more times are you going to post this crap???

And don't sit and stretch the facts. ALPA IS SCHEDULED TO LOSE JOBS AS WELL! And you do nknow how many.....cause I know how many!

PITBull said: The airline will be liquidated and assets to be distributed toward the ATSB to protect the TAX PAYERS. The ATSB loan will be paid FIRST. Bronner's RSA investment will go down the poop shoot upon liquidation.

USA320Pilot comments: So will the majority of 28,000 employees and their families, plus current and future furloughees, if the company is unable to restructure in or out of court to meet further deteriorating industry and airline fundamentals.

I know I'm repeating myself, but I firmly believe for those who are angry and would rather see the company “burn to the groundâ€￾ instead of accepting an America West type of contract, I believe Dave Siegel made a valid point during his webcast. He went so far as to encourage employees to leave the company if new work contracts aren't agreeable, rather than to fight the change. With the company in operation a furloughed employee would receive severance pay, unemployment, COBRA medical insurance, recall rights, pass privileges, MDA/J4J opportunities (some employees), and recall rights.

If the company fails they can get unemployment for a relatively short period of time and maybe other government aid. That's it, so where is the employee benefit to helping the company fail?

USA320,

YOU REPEATED IT YET AGAIN!
Are you living in Stepford, PA?????

What do you have ... those repeated statments must be on some kind of automatic pilot!

PITBull:

I can post anything I like and if I believe it is appropriate, I will. With all due respect, this is no different than what you do.

Everybody knows that furloughs could occur in every work group, but the company has let it be known the pilot $295 million cost cut number can come from five areas with ALPA deciding on which pot the money comes from.

In my opinion, ALPA's new accord will likely be the America West pilot contract, change the retirement from the DC Plan to a 401(k), and changes to retiree health care. There are other more detailed changes that will be implemented that when combined with the major cost savings points above can prevent pilot furloughs.

Potential pilot furloughs are a major issue for ALPA and we will aggressively work to prevent such action.

Respectfully,

The time for discussion is over, get in a lifeboat NOW! The pumps have failed and the water is over the boilers! The ship is DOOMED! The ship CHAPTER 11 is coming, but a ship called CHAPTER 7 will get here first. IT'S TOO LATE TO DEBATE!
It doesn't matter how much you give! U.S. AIRWAYS is a GONER!

Well USA320,

ALPA is not going to be able to prevent a furlough with the proposals U MUST have.

The pilot numbers are not huge this year....but 2005, THEY MOST CERTAINLY ARE.

Do not take the "low road" and decieve people on this board, it is not becoming of you.
