69. Rampers will often use very colorful terms to describe something that happens on the ramp. The ramp by its very nature is a dangerous place to work. The term "pucker factor" is used to describe a close call. Example: "The fog is so thick this morning I couldn't see that 320 until it was on my a$$. The "pucker factor" was so high there is a permanent crease in the seat of my tug".

or in some cases,
we have some fellow agents that will wait until "they are touching cloth" to do anything about it.

if you work with these folks .. BEWARE

Hello to All,
I'm new to the board, been reading it for months now and have been timid about jumping into this pool. But here goes... Nothing bad, just a question to those who work the ramp in CLT, I was planning on transferring there after all of this madness with the intergration is done. I'm looking for...
1. the best place to live
2. Eat
3. play
4. Where to work once i'm in
5. who to avoid
6. etc...

I've been doing the ramp thing for 13 years and I'm not foreign when it comes to the Politics so you can leave all of that out. Thanks in advance to all.

doing it,
"1. the best place to live

3. play
4. Where to work once i'm in
5. who to avoid"

1. south clt or in S.C (seems most of the burgh crowd has taken up residence there)
3. depends.. single . downtown/uptown has some nice clubs
4. if your fleet 13 yrs I'm gonna say on the ramp nights . that's about what you can hold. Catering to senior and bagroom P.M to junior
so your best bet is team 3 or 4 or ABR if you can hold it.
5. K.Pate S/M .. get with a shop steward or grievance committee man . they can steer you in the right direction.

hope this helps . PM if you need more specifics.........

O-MAN..

pss ..........JOE what happened to your thread.. it went for so long.. had to find it on page 4 or 5 .....

when marshaling a plane in if you stop it past the line for that type of a/c don't further embarrass yourself by signaling the capt to back the plane up

yes it really happened

Oriole,
Appreciate the info. Nights though? Thought 13 years might get me at least a day shift tu we off. I'm in for a rude awakening I guess... Thanks for your time.

Oh my, ...22 years and just got a day shift? So I do have something to look forward to. Seriously though, I work what I have to and usually adapt to whatever. I guess I was spoiled working for HP all these years.
Thanks to my fellow rampers for all of your input.

71. Dating or even marrying a fellow ramper is not forbidden.

Warning: This is very dangerous territory. If you choose to proceed down this path you may become the victim of a drive-by a$$ chewing and your ego or reputation could become permanently injured.

Joe,
WHAT the H*ll are you talking about.

have you and Jose been talking again.
