RIF Notices

It's not that we trust the union but everyone around with better then 7/21/97 didnt get a rif notice that's just plain fact amts that is

I have an old friend that missed the layoff by 60 days. I guess he'll go in the next round.

Hey if you can't have fun in the field that we r in what else is there...All kidding aside I hope the layoffs are kept to a minimum and all those affected move on to something better. Good Luck fellow AMT's...We r in this together no matter what company we work for.

[sup][sup]He asked I not post his name or Employee #, but from the info I have previously posted...I'm sure you can figure his employee info out.[/sup][/sup]
[sup][sup]I talked to another AMT with 91 seniority who also got a RIF letter. Just got through talking to the union and they said anyone who received a letter that had more seniority than 7/97 was a mistake. So I was in error by saying 7/96 was for certain. Although they did hand out RIF letters to more than 1 person with more seniority than 7/97. My apologies AA TULSA MECHANIC. I took the evidence I seen first hand and posted what seemed clear. You were right 7/97 is the date. Again my apologies.[/sup][/sup]

As someone whose union does not "bump and flush", what does the "November 7-12 Talent Services to process virtual awards" and the "24 hours to Accept/Decline" mean? Is that like "You are eligible to bump into the station at Timbuktu as the most junior mechanic in that station?" Or, "You are at the bottom of the pile for every station. Start cleaning out your locker."

If it means that you have 24 hours to decide whether or not to transfer halfway across the country, has it always been that small a window? Doesn't seem like much time to consider a major life-changing decision.

Hi Jim. To respond to your question, the bumping process is all about geography and cronyism, not seniority. The nearer you are to TUL/AFW the more susceptible to you are to being bumped. The company and union always make special deals to allow TUL/AFW folk to stay "close to home". It happened in 2003 and it's happening now. In another weird twist, there are 95 openings at ORD and 60+ at JFK, while 60+ are being RFD,d at DFW, in addition to the 80+taking the buyout. Something stinks...."
