Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll on Saturday, adding momentum to her populist-conservative campaign for president.

Out of 16,892 votes cast, Congresswoman Bachmann won 4,823 votes, or 29 percent. Coming in a close second was Rep. Ron Paul of Texas with 4,671 votes, or 28 percent.

I am as my friend say "Over the Moon" with Dr. Paul's showing. Granted it's a beauty contest, however a showing this strong shows he is electable. Gongrats Dr Paul keep the Ron Paul Revolution going forward to 1600 Penna Ave. RUN RON RUN!

I predict it will be Romney or Perry. I am guessing Romney unless the TP sink him because of his more centrist views and the fact that he is Mormon. I think he has a far better chance of beating Obama than the rest of the clowns.

Nothing like a fundraiser disguised as an election.

$30 to vote. Candidates allowed to pay the entry fee for voters.

LOL....you kill me dog....rocky bama 38k for din din...WTF you talking about......

Even Obama could have bought the Iowa Republican straw poll.

Well as 700UW says, "Never let facts get in your way"

Ron Paul was out spent almost 10 to 1 by Ms Bachmann according to some reports. There was a report that Ms Bachmann personally led about 200 supporters to the voting area. Now if you look at her margin of victory which was 150 then things get questionable. There is no evidence that Dr. Paul's showing was bought.

Secondly, Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann totaled 57% combined and that does not bode well for the Empty Suit.

Come on. Lets be serious. No one finds it a bit bizarre that Bachamann came in first? The lady is a first class whack job who could not think her way out of a paper bag and she got first? A guy who everyone has taken as another whack job who has run for POTUS about 4 or 5 times (I lost count) comes in second?

This whole things brings a new meaning to the term 'straw poll'.

Ron Paul ran as a Libertarian in 1988 and last cycle and now again for 2012. Hardly 4 or 5 times.

As to the whack job comment all I'll say is this:

Credit Downgrade
9.2% unemployment
$3.75/Gal gas
Monumental debt
Failure to repeal the Patriot Act
Gitmo still open
wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen & Libya with no end in sight

So with all due respect I'd argue that the "Whack Job" currently occupies the White House, while the common sense approach of spending no more than you take in being demonized by the Progressives in order to deflect from the fact that the Obama Administration is an abject and epic failure that has saddled our grandchild's grandchildren with the financial burden of his failed policies and that is most assuredly whacked.

I thought he ran other times for POTUS. My mistake.

Just because we have had whack jobs in the past does not mean we need another one who is new and improved.

Any straw poll that puts Bachmann and Paul 1st and 2nd is not reflective of the voting public. Hell, I doubt it's even reflective of the republican die hards. I wonder if the TP stacked the deck.
