I flew in to CLT last weekend on my way to CHA, anyway we taxied right by the hangers there.. I thought CLT was a main base maintenance base where east does majority of there heavy work. It looked to me like two very small hangers? the one faceing the taxiway had 2 737's I think and was full, the other one looked like it was widebody. My question is whats the hanger capacity in CLT?

BTW pit mechanics.. Good job on 637... looked nice.. We were goin to grieve the work not bein performed but us but rather east get the work then macon or san salvador..

The main hanger is capable of holding 5 planes as it was originally 5 bays, a distribution center and support shops.

The smaller hanger to the left is the line hangar, which was built to accomodate all the line work that was moved to CLT when GSO and other stations closed down. Before that if the main hangar was full as it usually was, engine changes and other work was done outside in the elements.

It can hold two 757s on an angle.

Do they still use Florida mx bases? I saw a hanger at MCO but it was closed up and only had one aircraft parked in front. A 737 if I remember correctly.

US has never had a hangar in MCO, we use to have one in TPA and they came in like the gestapo before one Thanksgiving and sent everyone home and closed it.

That has to rank up there with one of the worst human relations/HR moments at US Airways. It was rude, crude, heartless and unforgivable. Crap like that should give you an idea as to why SOME Easties are distrustful to ANY management.

They made them do all the work that night and never said anything after 3am they ordered them all into the breakroom and told them we are shutting down the hangar, here is your paperwork, now leave the premises.

Now Crellin and Hemenway had their hands in that and they are still here, beware!

They have violated the WARN Act and it is currently still an active case in the first bankruptcy.

I worked that morning,on hand were Tampa PD,Sheriffs dept and Fla highway patrol.Gestapo puts it mildly.Just two weeks before then ceo states Tampa hanger will remain open.

Ahhh you broke the code, See it's setup for lots of hvy mtx, but not the 5 737's, but 10 crj200's outsourced to contract mtx.........

J/K.....but prob. a reality down the road.

They both have ruined many careers and treated many employees like animals. Neither has any employee relation concerns. Why they are still with the company gives me distrust of DP. US West bewarned.

Has there ever been a problem in the past which would cause or justify the company not giving any notice on a hanger closure?

Did Doug call and ask you to post that?

Or do you think he just might put you on his e-mail list like Ashby did?

I guess that's a "no" then.
It was a legitimate question based on the previous posts.

p.s. Don't know Doug. Don't know Ashby...don't want to know either one.

Since we are talking about hangar closings lets not forget INT and GSO. I was in INT at the time, those old Piedmont people had work ethics not heard of today. Espically in INT. I think I would think twice if I had people working for me that clocked out and THEN finished their job cause the work on the plane was running late. And there was not over time authorized. Those peolpe in INT did that. Their knowledge of Boeings was admirable. There was a paint booth (that would hold a 727) built into the back side of the hangar very economical do everything yourself no outsourcing. I am not from INT just worked there til I could get back to clt.
