PSA F/O's Screwed Again

It's a regional airline. The contract was not designed to have people wait 5 years to upgrade. Our pay tops out at 7 years. Why? Because they never intended someone to sit there that long. Top it off with 2 years reserve and you have the makings for a "Pretty S ity Airline". 7 years just to make $36k.

IN ORDER TO PAY RENT WE NEED TO MAKE A LIVING. F/O PAY DOES NOT ALLOW THAT. NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY WE NEED TO UPGRADE IN A RESONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME? TOP PAY IS $36/HR. TOP FRIGGIN PAY! MAX Yes for dealing with all this crap and max out at $36. And then move backwards in schedules.

A first year F/O at PSA can expect to make $19k for the first year. Woo $22 for the second. Come on to PSA where not only do we go into bankrupcy but we put our pilots there too!
Do you think the guys at majors flew a shinynew jet as an f/o w/500 hrs and then upgraded in 2 years? Regionals....or rather commuter(thats what we really are)pilots in the good ole days flew a hunk a junk turbo prop ...spitting, sputtering, leaking all kinds a stuff, pulling longer days than we do, with NO Work Rules, for far fewer dollars than we make now. Our job is cake compared to what it used to be. I know its hard nontheless, but please.......the instant gratification attitude youre portraying does not sit so well with those that have paved the way for you to come vfr direct out a riddle with 500 hrs to fly a BRAND NEW JET. Come to Pdt, let us show you the roots.....and make some descent money while you wait for your 7 year upgrade.

Yes i agreee. There are a few of us at PSA that came here with plenty of experience. Some worked for other airlines before coming here. Hardly instant gratification. 10 years as a commercial pilot to make $22k is just wrong. Yes some of those years was flight instructing and yes some was flying turbo props. The whole point is 15 years ago when people were making 19k a year flying turbo props they had a future, a light at the end of the tunnel. Now we have endless reserve, crappy hotels and now because of G.W. i am paying $3 for gas in my 15 year old car. We are getting screwed and my very hard earned ALPA funds are going to ruin my future. I am paying ALPA national money so they can represent mainline pilots at my airline.

Soon you will see Teamsters at PSA. Just wait.

Why dont you go somewhere else if it is so bad. I've heard lots of commuter pilots talking about how great their lives our at other places. We are so happy at PDT. Life just couldnt be better. Seriously bro...just relax, things always work out for the better. Embrace the journey....thats what its really about anyway.

Wow, why do you think you have the right to complain about that when the people you are complaining about have had it 10 times worse? I didn't see you lose your job after 15 years.

Oh, and btw, if it is Bush's fault the gas prices went up to $3, it must be because of him the prices have drastically fallen. Right?

i was at psa in the mid 90s and was a prop fo for 5+ years...and i had to pay 10k for training because that was the only way to get on back then. i have been through nine indocs in 14 years. furloghed from airways for 5 years and my story is far from the worst...you have no idea what being screwed is like. dont worry though you will get used to it :)

Yep, must be that light beer and MTV!

Maybe if you set a standard 15 years ago we wouldn't be in this mess. Is it the first year F/O at Mesa that signed the $19/hr contract. Hell No. It was the senior pilots that sold them out. Quit trying to blame the "New" pilots for the low wages and poor working conditions. It wasn't us that signed the contract. And unless you actually worked on the job, you really have no idea what it is like. 15 years ago if i had known that it was going to be like this i never would have done it. But after 10 years and thousands of dollars i cannot just "QUIT". Maybe a gate agent can because they have ZERO invested. Or a ramp person and even management. But Pilots have many many thousands invested. You just cannot walk away from it.

I am sorry that i don't have the "Screwed History" that you senior pilots have but i do have plenty of experience working for great, no so great and crappy employers. PSA is under the crappy one. Why because in all my other jobs i was a valued employee. I got Christmas bonuses, holidays, and when i needed a day to go to the dentist i got got it. Full Pay.

Gas prices fell because the summer is over. Wait till they post their 3rd quarter profits. It is going to blow your mind. If they posted a trillion dollar profit how would the public react to that?

At least Clinton had the sense to release our reserves to keep the prices down. G.W. I understand why he didn't, just more money for him!

It is never going to change until you guys quit accepting the job for those wages and working conditions. Vote with your feet.

Oh don't think i won't. I will be in Newark or Laguardia or some back country place and just walk off. Last flight of the day or something like that.
Think anyone will care? Other than the passengers getting stuck? Nope. So why should i? You get what you pay for right?

Yep. BTW that works both ways. They will pay you as little as they have to and still get takers. How bad are you willing to sell yourself out just to fly a shiny Jet?

Some of the furloughed guys paid for their training. There was a day...not long ago...when you diddn't get into ACA ASA PSA etc...without getting out your checkbook.

It fills me with sorrow to see pilots at each others throats. This energy could be spent on working with each other to find a solution but instead we throw rocks at each other and complain.

The fact is we've all been systematically divided and conquered and it is shameful...its all of our faults.

Why don't we try to find a solution.

I couldn't care less if we get more J4J guys. 99% of them are a real pleasure to fly with. They empathize with the F/O's cause they know what it is like to get screwed.

Our company is bending the rules and having IOE on F/O lines. Rather then an F/O getting bumped off a trip and still paid for it, they are giving F/O hard lines to the IOE Captains.

What happens is all the F/O's are getting bumped back 10 lines in CLT because of this. Nothing against the J4J people it is just our company not doing what is right.

Basically they are short F/O's on reserve because they cannot run the company properly. So they get an additional 10 F/O's by doing this. And yes it pisses me off.

Gabby do you have any resumes out? Your cryin' on this board isn't gonna help your cause at all!!! I would get busy sending my stuff out to all the other regionals that pretty much have the same problems..
