So the New J4J's are taking 10 clt lines for IOE. Not only do we have to wait 5 years to upgrade but we are moving backwards in terms of schedule and lines.

Way to go PSA Managment for making the lowest paid F/O's lives worse! Yes i really really care about your fuel now.

Can't wait for that christmas bonus. Hot reserve in CLT? Again!

Let me make this simple......

Lets see, did you folks agree on Jets For Jobs? Didn't your pilot group agree on your pay rates? Hmmm, How about a coke and a STFU!!!
Get over it!!!

The PSA J4J's Gabby is referring to are the MDA CELs that came from Piedmont. Your remarks toward gabby are perhaps misplaced.

Ya, all the people that agreed to it are Captains and it doesn't affect them one bit.

I think the J4J's should be slotted. Make the Captains at PSA move down in ranks too.
Nobody that is a Captain at PSA sat reserve as an F/O for 2 years.
Junior F/O's are quitting left and right because upgrade is going to be 5 years and reserve in CLT is 2 at least. Keep the jets, we don't fly much anyway. 15 hr days 20 days a month and never break guarentee. WTF? OVer?

Sounds like you need a career change. Maybe this is just to much for you to handle. Better get out before it affects your health. I had an old Braniff Captain tell me once "the airline business is not for the faint of heart". Good luck with your new career.

Reserve for two years? If I were you I would be so incensed I would be looking for employment in another profession. And the thought of having to wait perhaps 5 years to upgrade, WTF? Over!

Talk to any Mainline Reserve F/O or Reserve Captain. I am sure they will display great empathy for your plight. NOT!

Hope the rest of your career is not a total disappointment.

Oh, and I think any transport category jet regardless of seats should have never been allowed out of ANY airline's Mainline. WTF? Over!

What gets me is the people who screw other people are the ones that say you need to "tough it out" or "Maybe this isn't the business for you".
Problem is i fly with all these "Greater than God" types yet at the first chance they will forget all their high morals and put themselves first.
I work in a seniority based system and moving backwards because of some obscure back door pisses me off.
Think i am going to care about gas, brakes, time off gate etc??? Think again, I care as much as management cares about me. Scary how little that is, isn't it?

Reserve is very very different at PSA, Lots of Hot Reserve, 10 days off, 5 am show first day. End at 8pm or later on the last. If you get a trip it will change 5 or more times. You will do your max duty day and you will not make it past 69 hrs. Try to sleep in the hot reserve room. People coming and going, doors slamming. Just utter crap.

Regional contracts were designed with the fact that reserve was going to be a month or two at the longest. Not 2 years. The whole contract is 1 paragraph. Ask any pilot that sits reserve and it is a horror story. Thanks PSA you have successfully decreased morale to an all time low.

Maybe you should bid TYS? They have guys over there that love to be used and get upset when there are more guys on RSV, because they have less of chance of getting called in. They also go by cool nicknames like "crosswind". Chin up, I did 3 plus years on RSV. Believe it or not, it was much worse.

Gabby,

Start by making your voice heard to the union. I know you won't think it'll do anything but you have to start somewhere. Start a grassroots effort to change your situation.

This industry blows and the job is just a job. It used to be a privelege to fly and be flown, not anymore.

Good luck.

There are no CEL pilots from PDT that went to PSA! Do you mean the APL guys that used to be at PDT...... Anyone that went MDA are now APL folks... You guys are the ones that signed the deal with the devil..... But hey, you back stabbed your WO brothers PDT/ALG and got your shiney RJ's. Enjoy them, and all the crap that comes with them.

"Do you mean the APL guys that used to be at PDT...Anyone that went to MDA are now APL folks."

Yea...the APL folks that were supposed to flow back to their respective wholly owned...(PDT)

I'm not a bitter person; I know a few of them and will fly with them and treat them with dignity...more than can be said of PDT and their willingness to accept "their own" under the protocol as intended.

So maybe stop ragging on junior PSA reserves who are being worked like mules and had zero, zip, nada, nil to do with stabbing PDT in the back. We are just trying to earn a living and provide for our families...just like you.

It's a regional airline. The contract was not designed to have people wait 5 years to upgrade. Our pay tops out at 7 years. Why? Because they never intended someone to sit there that long. Top it off with 2 years reserve and you have the makings for a "Pretty S ity Airline". 7 years just to make $36k.

IN ORDER TO PAY RENT WE NEED TO MAKE A LIVING. F/O PAY DOES NOT ALLOW THAT. NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY WE NEED TO UPGRADE IN A RESONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME? TOP PAY IS $36/HR. TOP FRIGGIN PAY! MAX Yes for dealing with all this crap and max out at $36. And then move backwards in schedules.

A first year F/O at PSA can expect to make $19k for the first year. Woo $22 for the second. Come on to PSA where not only do we go into bankrupcy but we put our pilots there too!

Then quit. It's not that hard. Go work somewhere else.

Eagle's upgrade is something like 10 years now....isn't that twice as bad as you have it? What's PDT's upgrade time these days, I can't imagine it's all that quick either.

I agree, working at a PSA (or any regional for that matter) is not a pleasant experience. So quit. You said yourself, other junior F/O's are doing it.

Your going to give yourself heart problems getting wrapped around the axle about PSA. It's just a job. Is it worth it to loose your medical for $22K a year and the crap that comes down from TK and company? Quit.

Your not going to get even by burning more fuel, mainline pays for it. TK could care less what you burn. Doesn't effect his life.

You want to get even, quit while your on a trip, in an outstation somewhere. Quit at 5am, on a layover, where there isn't another legal crew and there are 70 warm bodies waiting to go to CLT.

Whatever you do, just quit!

You make a great point, and you're absolutely right. Unfortunately that's life in the regionals. You aren't going to find the 1-2 year upgrades anywhere much longer, as the regionals have matured. If the RJs had never been outsourced from the mainline it would be much easier for us all to make a decent living like the older folks. Used to be 1 year in a turboprop then an upgrade. A couple of years as PIC and they were off to the lucrative majors. New paradigm now though. Don't take it out on us, most of us know intimately that life ain't fair!
