Profit Sharing Checks: DELAYED

The way to build trust and credibility is to do what you say you are going to do when you say you're going to do it.

There is no valid reason for the checks to be delayed
why don't you mind you business ? you are not an employee of usairways. while i do agree with many people on here about the inconsistencies of the company, this does not concern you .

US News Now
UPDATE- Profit Sharing and AIP Programs Will Pay Out Week of March 17

March 7, 2008

Yesterday, we sent out a USNews Now detailing the profit sharing and bonus programs and stated checks would be paid on March 12. We are today correcting the distribution date. Profit sharing and bonus checks are now scheduled for distribution the week of March 17.

The week of March 17 means they can be as late as March 21. And that's assuming they have all the glitches worked out, which I doubt.

Better to delay it a week and get it right than get it out fast and have to go back and fix it later. You want to bang on someone for making the mistake in the first place, go ahead, I'm sure those of you who do that have never made any error in your positions.

Umm....where have you been? Surely you're not new here, did you actually read that before you hit enter? This is just par for the course for this management team....mistake after mistake after mistake....etc.,. Yeah, you're right we all make mistakes, but we aren't the one's running this company are we? Again, is it a big deal? NO...it's still coming....you're absolutely right! I think all of the employees would just like to see something happen for once without having to apologize for making a mistake! Plain and simple give us some solid ground to walk on, we'll respect you much better if you live up to your own expectations!

I totaly agree with all the posters who see the importance
paying people on time. I posted a while back that I did
not believe it was below the company's ethics to use the
timing of PS checks to thier own benefit in regards to outstanding
negotiations among labor groups. While I think
it is more possible to blame incompetence and irresponsibility,
it could also be possible the company is playing every
card they have to facilitate the cheapest contracts they
can. I could be wrong but I think it to thier benefit to
get contracts negotiatied before release of PS.

Why can't they get it right the first time ? They've got to screw it up.

I have made a minor edit here. This is a border line personal attack and a reminder personal attacks will get you time off. Since you are a new poster just a warning this time.

All,
It appeas that some will not be happy if the get there 2007 profit sharing checks the week of Mar 12th wrong, or the week of Mar 17th correct. That being said, appreciate that you are even receiving Profit Sharing, given the current economy, the forcasted loss for the 1st Qtr, 2008 Profit Sharing may be very little or nothing at all.
Regards
DC

IT WAS EARNED GENIUS & NOW IT'S OWED

Want to bet my employers 8% of W-2 profit sharing lands in my account

THE DAY IT WAS PROMISED?????

It's goes to trust and credibility and who has and who doesn't have it. Right now Trust & Credibility are are rare as $1.00/gal Jet A when it comes to US Airways Sr Management.

Well the $20 to 25 thousand I spend a year on tickets does end up ultimately in the payroll department.

That was NOT the question. Since you obviously work in the payroll department at US, please explain to the masses what happened with the checks, why the delay, etc.
The money your company spends (and any that you personally spend if you still fly US since you say it's so bad) ends up on the bottom line, not directly in the payroll department. The money my company spends goes to pay an employee's salary, airplane leases, etc. Give me a break.

etops1, I hear ya....not a big deal....why b***h & complain about it....

And I don't work for US....directly....I'll leave it at that.

But I can tell you this, I own a business and have a number of employees.....when it comes to their pay and their livlihood, ESPECIALLY the ones that are out there kicking @ss and taking names, I AM NEVER EVEN 5 MINUTES LATE ON MONEY!!! And the ONE time I was, because I thought I hit the "process" button on my payroll web site and didn't, I made it up to them big time...with a pretty decent chunk of change (read: not $50) as an apology. (Probably the worst I EVER felt as a business owner, not getting everyone paid, on time.)

I think it also speaks to a larger issue....there is a real pattern here of "over promising and under delivering." Do that with a vendor or some other supplier....but don't do that with your employees and your customers.

Sure, one week is a minor thing...on that, we agree. At the end of the day, it's not a deal breaker. BUT, it's not right that this kind of stuff, no matter how trivial, happens. It's not like this is rocket science....if they knew they MIGHT have an issue 2 months ago when they knew they would be paying it, TELL THE TEAM MARCH 31 AND THEN WHEN THEY GET IT EARLY ITS A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!!

That's all.

You're right, there are MUCH larger issues to b***h and moan about....but this is a pattern these people at The Sand Castle have established time and time again....and it's just downright sloppy and NOT the right way to run a business.

wow an employer who cares about his employees, how refeshing care to apply for postion of CEO of a very poorly run airline?

In business and in life delivering on ones promises is a fundamental as the sun rising. NEVER in 20 years at three multibillion, multinational companys' have they ever had a delay or missed date for our money, which is EARNED and not a gift as some would think or try to have you believe.

Bob, while I agree with you that payroll dates are critical, a bonus check is different and should have some float time. Unless of course you announce the disbursement date as these knuckleheads did. Somebody should ask them to specifically cite these "discrepancies".

Also, you have been fortunate to work for three multi billion $ companies.

Small and sick companies do things differently.

So you've spent $25K with US? Last year I easily spent four times that and walked away when US began costing me credibility.

Nobody from US even contacted me to find out why I left.
