Profit Sharing Checks: DELAYED

Everyone has to set deadlines and limits and live up to them in the business world. People should be chained to their desks between now and the 12th to get it out on time. Where is the work ethic and sense of responsibility?

One also also had to set personal, professional goals and expectations.

This is it for me, there have been too many errors in every day simple processes that from a technological standpoint should be no brainers.

Which leads to the conclusion that it is the human factor which is behind every snafu from pay to uniforms.

When I am at work I need to be in the company of hard working business professionals, especially when a company has many challenges. They can take their whole 'laid back casual" approach and sell it to other slackers out there. Look where it has gotten us.

There is no excuse for this.

I guess that's sums it up in a nut shell for me....How many times can this company set forth on a project or a goal and NOT live up to it! EVERY task this company has implemented has failed to live up to what it has been promised before it's even started. The continous blunders and unfulfilled promises continue to seperate employees from employers in negative ways. I can honestly say, that it would be hard to find a single employee here at US that feels that our current management team knows what they are doing! And the worst part of all is the loss of confidence and respect that continues to erode away for them.

Is it really a big deal to delay the profit sharing about a week? No, not really, what the bigger deal here is ANOTHER decision was made to the employees that fails to live up to what was promised!

Don't know if any of this is even true. But the sad part is the contract language on profit sharing doesn't call out a specific payout date.

In other words its BOHICA!! again.

Don't be a sucker. My employees wouldn't tolerate it being piad hours late and the truth is they shouldn't. People depend on their pay. This craphole is run by a bunch of unprofessional, disrespectful boobs. I'd report them to the dept of labor everytime they screwed with my pay. They can't get anything right. Pathetic.
If people are relying on profit charing checks to pay the bills, they really should find a new job in the next 12 months.

Well it seems we wont be getting our profit sharing checks until sometime the week of the 17th according to one of my supervisors. He showed me the email today. I checked the hub and didn't see anything. Just a heads up. This is so typical of this company. Can they ever deliver anything on time as promised????
Whom was originator of the email? As you said there is nothing in the Hub or Compass that indicates a delay from the orignal date of the week of 3/12/08.

You're absolutley right.....but "profit sharing" is just a word they use to "put back" the money into our paychecks that was "taken out" from a couple of years ago.

Me thinks you're missing the point....it's simply a sloppy and unprofessional ("Business Casual"....err...."Business Crapual?") way of running a business. And you as an employee are held to a MUCH higher standard.

As others have said, "try paying your credit card bill or mortgage late sometime and watch what happens." I doubt Bank Of America is going to go out of business if I don't pay them my Visa bill....but I'll bet ya $50 to a doughnut they won't put up with me paying them late.

at least we are getting it back. right? if you put it that way.

It is on the internal communication system.

Yup you are correct, I just found it. Better to get it correct, than not.

US News Now
UPDATE- Profit Sharing and AIP Programs Will Pay Out Week of March 17

March 7, 2008

Yesterday, we sent out a USNews Now detailing the profit sharing and bonus programs and stated checks would be paid on March 12. We are today correcting the distribution date. Profit sharing and bonus checks are now scheduled for distribution the week of March 17.

Here’s why: during our final review of profit sharing and bonus files to be submitted to payroll for processing, we discovered some discrepancies that might have resulted in certain people getting paid incorrectly. Rather than take that risk, we want to do more work and continue to validate the data over the next several days to ensure we produce accurate checks. This means we’ll be distributing checks a few days later.

If employees have bank withdrawals such as automatic bill pay set up to deduct money based on your profit sharing or AIP bonus, please contact your bank and make alternative arrangements.

If you have additional questions, please email [email protected] and we will direct your email to the appropriate person. We apologize for the delay.

Very grateful for it too....my only problem with the whole thing is stand by your commitments, inadequacy is running rampant around here, not to much to ask for.....you'd think?

Bottom line is this current management team just seems like its unable to get anything correct the first time, whether it be res cutover, new uniforms, contracts...ect,ect!!!!! People wonder why the morale is in the toilet at this place!!!

i can agree with that.

Better to delay it a week and get it right than get it out fast and have to go back and fix it later. You want to bang on someone for making the mistake in the first place, go ahead, I'm sure those of you who do that have never made any error in your positions.

While I agree with you that people should not "rely" on their P.S. checks to pay the bills, how one spends their check is the luxury that the check affords them, no? Some of us have medical expenses or credit card debt that this check will allow us to pay a nice chunk towards, and when our company comes out and says, "March 12" , we take that info and plan accordingly. So, it is the principle of the fact that a published date was made company wide and now errors on their behalf have forced them to reneg. I also agree that it is worthy of them to fix the error now vs. later once distribution has occured, that would be far worse! Really, it is par for the course for this company. One should not develop expectations when dealing with this company. The other point I wanted to make is the difference some of us have in amounts. Some checks are just enough to pay a chunk towards a debt, while others can make a down-payment on something really nice for themselves, just depends on your work group. And, finally, yes, it is nice to just have an extra check in the first place, so waiting an extra week isn't a huge deal, but an inconvenience, none the less.
