Possibility of new routes to the Middle East (i.e DXB) from CLT/DFW

Oh thats right I forgot you are an aviation maintenance inspection expert besides a route planning marketing guru.

We all forgot you know more than anyone about Airlines and Airplanes, sitting in your office in BOS or MIA.
But they like I said they lack in seat power outlets and are staffed with sUS
not sAA. See if you actually flew AA you would understand.

Josh,

The best thing you could do is not fly AA, then you will not have any complaints about their service... To me that seems like a fairly simple solution..
I will continue flying sAA, I like it and they are nice to me. sUS is another story. Everytime I travel there is an issue whether it's a short shuttle flight to DCA or international Envoy. The planes are dumpy, indifferent employees, dilapidated facilities at PHL, etc. AA and US are night and day apart. You guys are in for a major upgrade.

IVE seen the interiors of most of our planes including the 76  and its actually nice compared to what you say josh

Josh is right though, an AA A319 and a US A319 are two completely different worlds, to stay nothing of the disparity between service standards. Don't hate on the poor guy just because what he is saying is true.

The AA A319s are brand new, US starting receiving their A319s in 1998.

And US has only been getting A321s in the narrowbodies the past few years.

Yeah, the AA MD 80s might suck, however US too has it's share of dilapadated planes that should be put out to pasture (B737's, B757's, B767s).

I'm cautiously optimistic that the US leadership doesn't screw this up. Needless to say I'd rather no merger. I just worry about setting foot on the US aircraft once they start serving the AA routes as they are in pretty poor condition, uncomfortable seats and lack in-seat power among other things.

The remaining 734s I think around 12 or so will be gone this year, the 767s just underwent interior refurbs not too long ago and the 757s are not going anywhere soon and mostly fly international.

And all the 330s were updated to the new Envoy class like the 332s have.

You really have no clue, and a passenger does not need a technical background to understand the condition and passenger amenities on the American Airlines (new aircraft especially) is far, far superior to that of US Airways. Even the US Airways Envoy 332 I flew was a brand new plane and although the AA 77W seat is more private and better fitted. You know a lot about unions and labor relations but actual flying from a passengers perspective you really don't get.

I have no clue?

You have stepped foot on every PMUS plane and inspected it right?

You are nothing more than a pot stirrer, whats a matter US wouldnt hire you to work in Finance?

And US's 757s are some of the oldest in the air! Ordered for Republic back in the early eighties. Here's a US 757 in its salad days:

Not to take this topic further off the rails or anything, but I wonder all the time why people complain that the AA MD-80s "suck" but no one complains about Delta's MD-88s that are just as old and in many cases older? Not that it makes any difference to me, I like the MD-80 and I am disappointed that I rarely get them at LGA now.

I'm no S80 fan but the reality is they are gone from many markets today and it seems you have to go out of your way to fly one. MIA hasn't seen them since 2005. BOS hasn't since 2010.

And it appears tomorrow is the final day for the S80 at LGA:

The east US 757s are all of 1990s vintage.  The very old ones (ex-EAL) were all retired (scrapped is a better term) since they could not be brought to ETOPS standards.  I don't know how old the AWA 757s are.
