Hi fellow US Airways coworkers~
I rarely post on this board but do read it since we never
get information from our own company and when we do,
it's already old and outdated.
Wow, what is in the news scares me. I believe that we
need to make a stand, but by acting immature and say
"we will not even look at what he is asking for" is
just plain insane! This is our future and even though I
believe mgt is to blame for allowing it to get here, we
have to forget everything, stop living in the past and
take the time to analyze where we are TODAY. I have
thought for a few days, would my life be any better if
I took the stand "let it shut down" and the answer
right now is no. I live a good life, I don't make over 45,000
a year, but have a home and I can travel and overall the
job is very flexible. Have any of you taken the time to see
what is out there in terms of jobs? You better be willing
to work 10X harder, get dirty and maybe not even have
insurance. I don't mean to be negative but it's not pretty
out there.
As for Mr. Siegel, without him our doors would have been
closed a year ago, but the short term fix is not the answer.
My problem is his own team (middle-level) is old US Airways
where friends promote friends and the wrong people are in
positions of leadership. It's rampant throughout this company
and the lack of leadership is unbelievable. Mr. Siegel should
not have to communicate every piece of information to us, that
is what he has VP's / Directors etc. for and the one that oversees my functions
within the company has not bought into the "new US Airways"
not even 1%. They are failing Mr. Siegel and I can't believe
he has been here 18 months (?) and we still have the same
people in certain positions. I don't believe in naming names,
I believe we all know who they are, so why are they still here?
I will say the recent appointment of Donna to VP Customer Services
is a good one, she is an excellent leader that does just that,
she leads with a positive attitude. I wish her good luck and
hope she has the opportunity to make change.
I guess I am rambling but I am so fustrated by the attitude of
"shut it down" versus lets do what we have to do to make
this place the success it should be, THEN we have the ability
to say, "WE" made this happen, now it's time to pay us back.
How?
Livable wages/salarys
GOOD Mgt that wants to be Mgt.
A place we are proud to work
Opportunity to make a difference
It really is basic but we all have to stop, think about what we have,
what we could have and then make the decision.
Look at Mr. S's plan, then comment. Ask what does it do for
US over the long haul.
US has not been a forward thinking company.
Let's save this company, get to a position where
we can bargin, either by contract or by fair opportunity.
This is not meant to lecture or preach, but I wanted to offer another
view versus one where we discuss "the old days" in line at the
unemployment office or over the counter as we "check out" customers
at Wal-Mart (which btw I refuse to shop)
Please think about it, and then VOICE your concern. Demand to see
the plan so that you as an individual can make your decision
versus someone telling you what to think.
I am sure the folks at Eastern, Pan AM, Trans World would all love
to have had a crystal ball and I bet they would have done things
differently. Our crystal ball is showing us the future now, we
now have to choose our path.
Best to all of us, we could be a kick-aXX company if we worked
together.
Happy New Year! B)
