Yawn ….

Bla blab la … USAPA has teeth .. that’s all your trying to say … but you have no teeth grandpa .. their gone , oil and the economy stole them ..

I think "oil and the economy" has made them sharper otherwise we all would not be on this page.

" the average brain power of the public. At least I hope they see this for what it is, a company that is squeezing the bottom line and a union that won't let them get away with it. "

As a member of the flying public - with a commercial certificate and CFI - I see this as an example of 8 pilots who need to learn how to better plan their flights - rather than take the attitude - I always ask for an extra 3K pounds cuz then I don't have to think before I start engines...

I see this as pilots who don't want to manage their fuel and flight plan. The FAA reserves are quite adequate and it is strange that only a handful of pilots seem to have a problem....

And rather than the 8 pilots help - by either explaining why the other 1000 or so pilots are wrong - or learning how they can change their ways - they try to scare people with this ad.

Each flight has a correct fuel load. Flying is very precise business. Seat of the pants went out a long time ago. Winds, average delays, weather are all well known - and fuel loads can be predicted better and better. If dispatchers are recommending incorrect loads, then they have bosses who can be talked to and computers that can be reprogrammed. But it looks like US AIR mgmt hit the nail on the head and decided it needed to reprogram the 8 pilots "computers" between their ears.

No , the magnitude of your PR BLUNDER is why we are all on this page ….

It’s like you took a boot attached to a stick and ran around kicking yourself in your own rear end …

I’m just watching the spectacle with amazement …

I think your overestimating the knowledge of the general public...trust me the public reaction has not been good for US -- this is as stated above a PR Blunder - which could end up costing all of us our jobs.

Ethically and as an employee this was the wrong way to pursue the issue.

Are events making you a little nervous? Hardball not your cup of tea? Don't like uncertainty, prefer being safe and sound?

Then do something that more accurately reflects your attitude and philosophy.

CHANGE YOUR AVATAR

Desparate times call for desparate measures - on both sides in this case.

I will starting buying US logo stuff. I am seeing some demand on Ebay for Eastern and Braniff stuff.....US Airways won't be far behind when it goes chapt 7....Maybe they can restart as Allegheny Airlines and top off on every leg when they are flying Saab 340's or other equip more suited to their abilities

Hardball ??? AH HAHAHAHAH!!!! Oh man this is great … you kill me , I haven’t laughed so hard in so long ….

You poor thing , I guess no one told you that while you were off having your own civil war the world changed ….

Let me be the first one to tell you

The world has changed ….

…
I wonder why the company wanted it this way, THEY could have have chose another path and they were advised of this a week and a half ago. IF this company fails it will ONLY be because of our management. I see every employee busting their butt (east and west) to do a good SAFE job, even if you don't think so.

I remember when I fought against this company …

There were things I wanted to do , things I wanted to say .. in the heat of the moment it seemed logical … but at the end of the day … I and other like myself always regained our heads and our clam and made the right decisions ….

Do you mean to tell me one of your union leaders just spur of the moment picked up the phone and placed the add and BAM …..

You had time to think it out … you didn’t

You can’t blame the company , this is your fault , this is your doing …

Today you’re the bad guy … you threaten the jobs of all us airways employee’s …

Well there you go. You got the answer. Let's issue all the pilots E6B's and knee boards with plenty of paper and pencils.

When's the last time you did an oceanic crossing? Were the headwinds exactly as predicted? Did any unforeseen weather develop that wasn't forecast 7 hours ago - when you took off? How about any unplanned ATC problems or delays at the other end when you're coming in on fumes? Ever had that?
Let me guess - with a commercial/cfi - I don't think so.

Despite your mighty Commercial/CFI qualification you speak as an amateur with the knowledge of an amateur. Your trusty E6B and Kneeboard is no substitute for tens of thousands of hours and hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of oceanic crossings. Your opinion and judgement amongst the professionals carries as much weight as would John Travolta's.

The Captain is the final authority as to the safe operation of any flight. That is where the buck stops.

Well I have never fought against this company, so I guess I have always had my head on right - unlike yourself.

You don't know all the details surrounding this fuel issue, so once again, as you have in your past, you are speaking in "the heat of the moment".

Some people accept authority as though it were the truth, instead of the other way around.

What PR blunder?

A pilot union finally acted like a pilot union, not an association, and called the company to account in a public venue, when all other avenues failed.

This is no ALPA 'let's have another informational picket' style of operation. Thank goodness.

We have lost revenue and customers because of the PR moment .......we can't afford to lose either....not one dollar and not one customer -- some of us are trying to retain a job.
