They start service out of PHL on May 9, 2004. You would think they would already have it loaded for sale on the internet.Hope777 said:Does anyone know the exact date that the PHL service will be loaded and available for sale?
As has already been mentioned, Flights and Fares for PHL are being kept under wraps until the last minute in an attempt to keep US guessing. The PHL station manager was just announced this week and it turns out he is a former US employee...this should be interesting.coolflyingfool said:Well, today is February 11 and there is still nothing in the Press Releases or at SWA.com for their fares or schedules on PHL. It is 87 days until PHL opens and with no one able to purchase a seat, SWA better start off with some really good fares to get people on them. I am going to LAS-PHL on May 14/17 and just booked Continental. I know that usually schedules are open 4 to 5 months in advance, but I guess PHL is not the norm. I looked at SWA and you can book other flights until June 10, but no PHL.
On a slightly different note, but in the growth area. I thought that SWA was having a net addition of something like 30 planes this year. Other than PHL, there has not been any big expansion announced. Are all of these new planes coming at the end of the year? Take care and fly straight and true.
Art, is that you?LongIsland2004 said:I hope SWA puts some flights to/from ISP as soon as the New Southwest Terminal at MacArthur Airport is finished in early April 2004. At $ 29.00 each way, i'd pay to just go for the ride!
Very smart move on SWA's part. Hiring a US employee to be the PHL station manager, is a great move. US is not going to be able to compete with SWA. Just look at the PHL-PVD fare...$29 one-way!SWAFA30 said:The PHL station manager was just announced this week and it turns out he is a former US employee...this should be interesting.
But he also ends every post with "it's the fares stupid". Somebody's gotta realize that the perks are part of the cost problem. He and Piney Bob and Tom Bascom rant about the outrageous cost of a ticket on US, but they will not consider giving up any of the perks that are a large part of the cost/revenue problem at US.coolflyingfool said:NO way is that Art. He had a whole discussion in the Airport section about how he will never fly on SWA because he is above the cattle class and he wants his perks.
US doesn't have the money or the resources to go one on one with SWA. I don't know how long you have been with US but, they failed big time with MetroJet and couldn't compete with SWA in BWI!usfliboi said:I think SWA is gonna have a pleasant surprise in how us competes against swa. Swa once other airline puts in place new cost structures it will then be a level playing field.
