Ops Center - Which one survives?

American is in the process of remodeling the DFW SOC to bring down the Tulsa MOC into a combined operation. Plus American Eagle's MOC and SOC are also located on the lower level of the DFW SOC building. How much space does the PIT facility have available for growth?

Eagle MOC and SOC will be moving out. So there is plenty of room in DFW.

PIT has quite a bit of expansion room, but I don't know that it would make much sense to move from a building you own to a rented facility. PI had a wonderful campus that was given away for a song. I think management regretted that one pretty quickly.

Not sure if the info is accurate, but heard something along the lines of PIT working all of the Int. flights, and DFW all of the domestic.

I think what they regret, is having HDQ in one city and Ops Center in another city. This is the time to fix that n

Pit is a state of the art facility loaded with great employees plus the rent is subsidized by the state,, hard to pass this facility up .

It might be state of the art but DFW facility is rent free also I believe. My gut feeling is PIT will be closed. It makes no sense to have your OPS center in one state and your HDQ in the other.

I'm guessing who ever started that rumor also believes that PIT is going to be our largest hub again.

I think Hula is right. And I think Wings info is totally inaccurate.

I predict that the PIT facility will go the way of the PIT simulator bomb shelter, and the two PIT public schoolhouses that were not-very-effectively pretending to be airline crew training facilities.

Having HQ in one city and Ops Center in another is traditional at Allegheny/USAir. "It's the way we've always done it." see: Crystal City and PIT.

I really hope this merger puts an effective end to the way Allegheny did business. I can't believe some of the stupid things that survived for decades. I'm sure the way AA does things can use some tweaking, too, but at least let's consolidate whatever we can. Isn't that the entire point?

The other significant facilities to move are the PHX and CLT training centers. The biggest problem with moving those is the down-time of the simulators while they are disassembled, moved and rebuilt, then recertified. Another is, does the AA Academy in Ft. Worth have room for more simulators?

I NEVER CLAIMED that it was accurate, just posting some info that had been passed on to me.
Can't help but to wonder who the idiot was that gave me a negative rank on that one....
Some people on here are waaaayyyy too sensitive when anything is posted that involves PIT, and FWIW, I never spent a single day of my career there.

The rent on the SOC building in DFW is 1500 dollars a month. It is currently undergoing renovation and will be a up to date, state of the art facility.

Over 30 years ago airlines had more then one dispatch offices, that just didn't work and I don't believe it will work today.

I do believe there will be more then one simulator training center as the current facilities can't handle it all.

If there was an accident or incident, in DFW, Parker could walk across the street and be on the scene in the ops center. A plane ride to PIT does not make sense.

I could see Eagel, Piedmont and PSA all coming together. That would be a great place for them.
