Obamacare Update!

this is what he said.

It’s even worse if you have a preexisting condition –- and up to half of all Americans have a preexisting condition

Depending on whos study (there are many) you believe anywhere from about 15% to 66% of the people in the US have pre-existing conditions that could affect their ability to get health insurance on the open market.  The biggest variables I have seen with the various studies is how many conditions they use in the study.  Some of them only use about 8 or 9 others included many more.   The statement that Obama made is factually correct depending one what study you want to reference.  He chose to emphasis the high end of the possibility.  That is politics.

What I take issue with is the HSS study which made the claim that these people could lose their coverage with out the ACA law being passed.  My understanding is that if you have coverage you cannot be dropped because of a health condition.  How ever you also cannot shop around because no one else would take you.  I think that statement by the HSS was misleading.

One other factor to take into consideration is the cost of that coverage.------ The cost to the person looking for coverage, and the cost to the rest of us for the privilege of him doing so!  There is nothing "Affordable" about the "Affordable Care Act"! ------ I know! I know! You prefur a single pay system! ------ Well, obamacare ain't it!

No it is not. Hopefully the shortcomings in the ACA will eventually push us toward single payer like every other western nation has.

Tree I do believe we both agree that change is needed. Were we differ is how that can be done. Your approach is to try and "tweak" what we already have. I believe what we have now is so completely flawed that we have to throw it out in it's entirety  and start over with a clean page!

I would.love to start from scratch. How ever given our form of government the is not feasible. The only option I see is small tweaks to gradually get it better. It will never be great. We will never have medical care like nearly all of Europe has. We have insurance companies that are heavily invested in us being sick. We have hospitals that are heavily invested in us being sick. And we have pharmaceutical companies who are heavy invested in us being sick. The one thing lacking is someone being heavily invested in us being healthy.

not one for conspiracies but when you look around at the food we eat, the chemicals in our environment an our life styles, I'm hard pressed to believe that there is not some sort of link.

Its certainly affordable for me.

I pay $15.51 a month for a top of the line Blue Cross Blue shied, the total cost is $377 a month.

So tell me how me paying only $15.51 isnt affordable?

Without the AHCA,  I WOULDNT be able to afford insurance and went without for over five years.

Nothing on Dr's visits, and its $500 total but that is only if I get something done at some place else besides the Dr's office and its $200 on prescriptions.

Preventative care is free.

$5 copay at PCP.
$10 for specialist, Urgent Care or Chiropractor.
$100 for Emergency Visit.

Wow. I once had premium BC/BS coverage and it only cost me about $10 a month. But my government entity decided to go on an in-house plan that cost me currently $45 a month. It doesn't cover as much as my BC/BS plan did. Great to see that some profit on the loss of others, such as myself.

'
I have a $25 doctors
$35 specialist, fAKE DOCTOR
$30 ambulance and emergency

But emergency and out of network physicians may charge EXTRA because my insurance doesn't cover like BC/BS did! Thank-you for profiting off of the lower end union brothers!

Then there is the quality of outcome issue.
