If the office is in Plano, west of Fort Worth is a heck of a commute. And pretty far from the Dallas nightlifeSure, North is filling in but there's still plenty of room west of Fort Worth, south of I-20, and east of Rockwall...
Great...training is available. I never said there wasn't. But when exactly do they take it since they are working two jobs?
I can tell you that Texans will love them at first when the house they paid $100K for is snapped up for half a million by a Californian who thinks he's getting a steal. Then, when they find their dream house that cost $250k is now going for $2.5 millon, they won't like them as much. Conversely, when Californians realize that it's an 8 hour drive to a beach or a plane ride to the mountains...they'll become homesick. Add to that, many of them though it was a heat wave when temps hit 80 degrees "back home"....they are gonna love a month of 100+ degree days. Also, from what I've read, Salaries may drop for those folks moving to align more with the Lone Star State.
Have you talked to a therapist about all of these fantasy doom and gloom scenarios?I'm sure there is some property next to a porn shop and massage parlor that one could buy a lot a build a house.
Do you know why houses cost so much in California? People wanted to live there. So if they all flock to Texas...it's going to impact their housing prices. That's called "the market" How long will it last? I'm not sure. Those Californians like the mountains...there aren't any in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio or Austin. Their idea of a "hot" day is when it hits 80. I think July thru September might be hard on them. There isn't an ocean nearby. There's a lot of things they'd be giving up in return for no state income tax. Some might adapt.Have you talked to a therapist about all of these fantasy doom and gloom scenarios?

I am sure housing costs will go up. However that does not mean someone is going to pay 500K for a house that has a current market value of 100K. That is just absurd.Do you know why houses cost so much in California? People wanted to live there. So if they all flock to Texas...it's going to impact their housing prices. Not my problem. Those Californians like the mountains...there aren't any in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio or Austin. Their idea of a "hot" day is when it hits 80. I think July thru September might be hard on them.
Gulf of Mexico. There isn't an ocean nearby.
Yes, I am sure they will miss that toxic, over regulated, over taxed, leftist cesspool. There's a lot of things they'd be giving up in return for no state income tax. Some might adapt.
We have people of all races and many countries here Bears so I honestly don't know what the hell you are talking about. One of my friends in high school was half Japanese and half Eskimo. My old crew chief was from Cuba. One of my old co workers was from France. My wife's family friend immigrated from Germany. We have a large American Indian presence here, I used to live in an area called "Little Mexico", I used to work at a bakery that had a large Chinese presence so again..... wtf are you talking about Bears?OKIE-HOMA, for the things you outlined is even WORSE !
No such thing as Cosmopolitan in OK, Nothing, Zip, Nada !

Why are they leaving these democratic utopian enclaves?Do you know why houses cost so much in California? People wanted to live there. I guess because their employer moved. This is kind of new this year. Let them experience a Texas summer and see if they think the tradeoff is worth it. What they save in taxes they make up for in an electric bill. Why are they leaving these democratic utopian enclaves?

You know damn well why they are leaving these democrat utopian enclaves.
Nice try KC.
every person I talk to about why Texas is so great they don't mention the climate as much as they do the people. They say the people make it a friendly welcoming place to live. I have family there and agree but I prefer the Northwest for the outdoors and beauty and I have learned to tolerate the liberal government. The grass is always greener on the other side. I've lived on the other side. If you are used to temps in the 70's and the ocean or mountains an hour away...at some point you are going to wake up on a muggy 80 degree morning, sweat while heading into the office, staying inside at lunch because it's 98 degrees outside, but on the pavement it's 105...wanting to get away but having to get on a plane to do it...some folks might find that it wasn't worth no income tax.
